A Dreamy Lilac Bridal Portraits By The Sea

Photo by Alexander Santi. Styling by JR Weddings. www.theweddingnotebook.com

With the boundless Black Sea lending an air of mystery and the romantic changing colours of the sunset sky, it was a picture perfect moment for the bride and groom to bask in each other’s love after exchanging their vows in hauntingly beautiful Crimea. The dreaminess of the bride’s lace gown, lilac ribbons and floral bouquet was a beautiful contrast against the enigmatic rock beach and waves. Thanks to Alexander Santi for this lovely set of photos, and to JRweddings for pulling together a beautiful shoot.

Julia Romancheva of JRweddings: “Probably every one of us would love to hear these words uttered at our marriage ceremony, ‘Wherever you’re going, I’m going your way.’ We knowingly chose this foreland overlooking the boundless Black Sea for this couple’s marriage ceremony as there is no better way to emphasise the power of those words.”

Dramatic Black And White With A Hint Of Gold At DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur

Adam Ong Photography. www.theweddingnotebook.com

The breathtaking grandeur of white florals paired with tall gold candelabras and elaborate tablescapes truly set an elegant and dramatic aesthetic to this wedding reception. Set up against the dark curtain backdrops and opulent chandeliers, gilded Tiffani chairs and tea lights, this was the perfect combination of romantic colours and textures. How a simple mix of round and long table arrangements can make a ballroom look so much more interesting! Many thanks for this gorgeous set up, Pathway Events & Design, and to Adam Ong Photography for capturing these stunning reception photos.

We believe there are many things in life that should be celebrated – the milestones of course, like birthdays, engagements and weddings. But sometimes, it’s the simple pleasures that we need to remember – the downtime and quiet moments alone.

This styled shoot at The Pondok by Craft Kitchen kept it casual and down-to-earth with natural tones peppered with feminine hues. We love the textures of the leafy greens and the tablescape’s rustic setup. Many thanks to Sherly of Tie the Knot for styling this shoot, BlueCicada Photography for capturing these beautiful photos, and Nigel Sia Storytelling for the video.

We can’t get enough of this colour pairing: the softness of blush pink contrasts perfectly with glitter and gold, creating a girly yet glamorous bridal shower. Completing the look is the addition of geometric shapes and loose leafy eucalyptus textures to the tablescapes, gilded utensils and glass candleholders. Thanks to The Final Fling for this beautiful setup, they definitely paid attention to every single detail and ensured that everything was chic, whimsical and stunning.

Pantone Colour of the Year Wedding: Rose Quartz & Serenity

Photo by Alison Mayfield Photography Studio. www.theweddingnotebook.com

Photo by Alison Mayfield Photography Studio. www.theweddingnotebook.com

From the sweet pink peonies and roses of the bride’s bouquet to the tranquil blue hue of the bridesmaids’ dresses and groomsmen’s pocket squares, this wedding had inadvertently blended two of the trendiest colours of the year: Pantone’s rose quartz (pastel pink) and serenity (blue).

This is the first time that Pantone has chosen two colours for Colour of the Year, and just like how the wedding was a beautiful event for two people starting a life together, the two colours together created a beautiful finish for this Melbourne wedding, set against the city skyline. Thanks to Alison Mayfield Photography Studio for capturing these moments.

A Navy Blue Sunset Garden Wedding in Bali

Saying ‘I do’ to the love of your life must be pretty special, but getting to have your first kiss overlooking a Balinese sunset, with all your loved ones in attendance to witness your union, must be out of this world amazing.

This couple took everything in stride, even when their ringbearer lost their wedding rings an hour before the bride had to walk down the aisle! They decided to go ahead anyway, with a borrowed symbolic ring from a bridesmaid. (They never found the ring.)

Their wedding stuck to a simple, clean white palette with varying shades of blue: from royal blue for the bridesmaids to bright cobalt for the groomsmen. A sunset wedding also meant gorgeous photographs – thanks for this set, Iwan Photography.

Photographed in the parklands of Sanctuary Lakes in Point Cook, Melbourne, this photoshoot is refreshing yet dreamy and romantic. Thanks for sharing this lovely set of photos with us, Ruffles & Bells, they were indeed beautifully captured by Qlix Photography.

Jay Cao of Qlix Photography: “The inspiration for this shoot was a result of the many ideas from the vendors involved. Eventually, we narrowed it down to the one thing we wanted to do, and that was reinvent the colours and mood of Jose Villa, summarised by a rustic bridal editorial shoot with a fresh colour palette of yellows, whites and greens.

2015 Dessert Table Trends

Marsala Themed Dessert Table. Photo by Inlight Photos. www.theweddingnotebook.com

Marsala Themed Dessert Table. Photo by Inlight Photos. www.theweddingnotebook.com

Dessert tables are here to stay, but besides the usual tiered cakes and macarons, you will definitely see a wider variety of treats. Chef Loh Mee Fong, Pastry Chef of Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur, shares with us more on what to expect. We also noticed that we couldn’t find many inspiration boards on Marsala, the Pantone Colour Of The Year, so we, together with Chef Mee Fong, decided to explore the theme. Hope you like it!

01-table-setup
Wooden ware and glassware are in when it comes to dessert bars, as people are looking at more rustic and natural looks.

02-cake
For that same reason, do expect naked cakes or cakes with fewer tiers. Instead of one wedding cake, you might see a few. Cakes will be cleaner and more basic, which hopefully applies to the marriage as well – no sugar coating.

Naked cake: Red berries cake filled with cheese frosting, surrounded by fresh berries and rosemary herbs

03-new-additions-to-the-family
Besides macarons and cupcakes, expect to see plenty of bite size and petit desserts, including lollipops, cake pops, glass desserts and petit gateaux.

Éclair: Éclair filled with homemade vanilla bean custard and glazed with vanilla white fondant

Looking at current lifestyle trends, desserts might also start to get more organic and healthy, and less sweet. Alternatively, savoury items can be added to balance out all the sweetness on the dessert table.

Brioche: Butter brioche with golden raisins

06-customise
Expect to see more custom desserts and decorations based on the theme, as well as customised cocktails and drinks.
