A Romantic Golden Beach Wedding In Koh Samui

Bridesmaids in rose gold. Cherry May Ward Photography. www.theweddingnotebook.com

It’s a known fact that nailing down the venue is the most important part to planning a wedding – and this couldn’t be truer for this bride and groom. We love the gold and blush tones, which definitely added to the romantic feel. The bridesmaids’ mismatched looks in gold were still cohesive, and the entire celebration was simple yet elegant, cosy, and overflowing with so much joy, love and laughter. Many thanks to Cherry May Ward for capturing these photos!

A Fun, Bright Beachside Wedding In Panglao Island, Philippines

We love how this wedding in the Philippines feels like a laid-back tropical getaway from start to finish! From the fun, bright colour scheme to the settings that oozed charm and relaxed vibes, it’s evident this couple knows how to kick back and enjoy themselves.

The theme was brought out primarily through the bridesmaids, who wore turquoise gowns, and the family, who stood out in striking orange. Meanwhile the parish church, with its old school wooden pews, antique tiles and fresco ceilings, lent an otherworldly setting to the ceremony. To top it off, the rented turquoise VW minivan matched the theme and vibe perfectly.

The reception, held at the Bohol Beach Club, was set out on picnic tables, surrounded by swaying coconut trees and the finest, whitest sand. Orange, pale pink and white flowers decorated the tabletops, while the seating cards and other stationery were in turquoise. The whole setting looked so magical when dusk set in and the candles and string lights came on! Many thanks to Blinkbox Photos and Cuckoo Cloud Concepts for sharing these photos with us.

A Modern Rustic Beach Wedding at Shangri-La’s Boracay Resort & Spa

Keeping the colours neutral and textures minimal was the initial plan for this couple as they didn’t want anything outrageous – and they were pleasantly surprised when everything came together so well. From the nautical navy colours and taupe rope textures to the gilded accents and lush green tablescape, everything was finished with a touch of elegance. We especially love the wedding logo on the small boat, which was subtle yet special. Thanks to Mayad Studios for capturing these beautiful wedding photos.

A Sweet Pastel Outdoor Garden Wedding at Thistle Port Dickson

Munkeat Photography. www.theweddingnotebook.com

Outdoor weddings mean you’re at the mercy of unpredictable weather, and for this lucky couple, their wedding was blessed with last minute sunshine! They got to exchange their vows against the backdrop of a picturesque sunset by the beach, with the salty sea breeze and a beautiful flower arch. Pastel colours and florals added a sweet romantic touch to the décor, and we especially love the different bridesmaid dress styles. Many thanks to MunKeat Photography for capturing this beautiful garden wedding!

May: “Every single thing was amazing and memorable! It was an outdoor wedding and forecasts from various sources indicated a thunderstorm for that day. The weather for the few days before the wedding was consistently thunderstorms. We were all prepared for the wet weather plan and I thought months of wedding preparations were going to be washed away by the rain.

“But on our wedding day, it drizzled a bit during the rehearsal that afternoon and then it stopped. We were all holding our breaths till the very last minute… and then a miracle happened! The sun came out from behind the dark clouds and the weather was perfect throughout the matrimonial ceremony and dinner. Both Gentry and I have been so blessed by God in many ways, including our wonderful friends and families who prayed for us and journeyed with us throughout our wedding. We are forever grateful!

“We wanted an outdoor wedding by the beach and our venue was perfect – a garden overlooking the Straits of Malacca. Our matrimonial ceremony was held during sunset, so we thought warm colours would be great. We love white and pastel colours so we chose white, gold, faded pink and faded grey as our colour palette. We had thank you cards with a heartfelt message from us to each guest who attended the wedding – we thought it would be a good and simple memento for our guests to keep.”

Tips from the bride: “Just relax and enjoy the biggest day of your life!”

A White On White Beach Wedding At Four Seasons Resort Langkawi

Keeping things classic and elegant never goes out of style. This intimate beach wedding got it right with a clean colour palette (white and grey) and fairy and tea lights. Also, we adore the bride’s sweet bridal headband!

The wedding was one big party, full of laughter and play – something that cannot be created with just décor or the setting. And the sea breeze and sunlight made for some truly beautiful photos that were captured by Munkeat Photography.

Christine: “Many of our guests live around the world and it was great to bring everyone together to build new happy memories. We wanted something relaxed and classic that would stand the test of time. The Four Seasons in Langkawi was the perfect place for everyone to get away and relax by the beach, plus they had a reputation for fantastic service.”

Tips from the bride: “Get a wedding planner early, especially if it’s a destination wedding. Planning a wedding is a full-time job and it gets increasingly difficult if you’re unable to visit vendors and don’t have local contacts.”

Bride Shares 5 Wedding Tips Everyone Should Know

We’ve read many tips from brides over the years, but this stands out as one of the most thoughtful and well reasoned – it’s definitely worth your time to read it. Throughout her wedding planning, she was able to give and take in all aspects, from in laws and guests to vendors. It’s easy to see how she managed to pull everything off for a really enjoyable wedding. She looked gorgeous in both her dresses, but more importantly, we feel she’s got an even more beautiful heart! Thanks for sharing this lovely couple’s story with us, Axioo.

Tips from the bride:

1. Browse and browse. Always use Pinterest. I didn’t share it with a lot of people, as I wanted our guests to be surprised.
2. If your in-laws/parents want to be involved, let them. Don’t argue with them; it’s not worth it. A good wedding organiser will be able to incorporate their ideas with yours so that both sides get some of what they want. The key is to discuss everything openly, especially with your future spouse.
3. Be humble with all your friends and vendors. I know we pay the vendors to do their job, but it doesn’t mean that you can do whatever you wish impolitely. I wanted everyone, including the vendors, to enjoy my wedding so I tried to be nice to them all and put myself in their shoes. It’s a give and take relationship.
4. Don’t be a bridezilla. Choose the right wedding planner, and they will be really helpful and give you less stress.
5. Be happy and enjoy everything.

Chintania: “While we were doing our pre-wedding photoshoot in Nusa Lembongan (30 mins from Bali), a huge wave hit us and swept us against the coral. It was crazy; I cut my knee and got six stitches. I couldn’t walk properly or wear anything but slippers for two weeks. I was grateful that I didn’t injure my face or hands at all.

“Other than the drama of our photoshoot, I was a very relaxed bride, although very particular with flowers, the dress, and little things like the invitations, stationery and décor. I loved my Holy Matrimony; it was intimate and had beautiful décor. I started to tear when I heard the band practicing, and cried throughout the ceremony. They were happy tears. I felt that finally, Randy and I could stand at the altar and say our lifetime vows in front of everyone.

“We had our reception only on the following day. Our entrance was pretty unusual – we danced all the way to the main stage to the song ‘Love Never Felt So Good’. After that, we did our appreciation speech and toast, and started the dinner with beautiful songs performed by Andrew Lee Entertainment as well as our close friends – Alfred, Ivan and Wilgo. Then I did the father daughter dance, followed by our first dance and a flash mob item. The flash mob was amazing; everyone was surprised!

“We wanted it to be fun yet elegant. So we had a proper seated dinner but with a fun programme. For the venue, Randy wanted it outdoors but I wanted it indoor to avoid [having to deal with] wind, sun or rain. We both got what we wanted: St Regis Bali for our Holy Matrimony, and The Mulia Bali for the reception.

A DIY Destination Wedding At Koh Samui

Ita and Michael didn’t have a very good experience with the wedding planner for their destination wedding. Most destination wedding packages in this region include a wedding planner fee, so always double check before you sign a contract with the venue. Find out what is included in the package and what you need to source yourself, and make sure everything is in black and white. Venues are usually more surprising before you make your deposit.

Their wedding planning hiccup aside, as this couple discovered, a destination beach wedding can be lots of fun. Thanks, Chris Spira, for sharing this with us. We can’t wait to see more of your work in Asia over the next few months!

Who would say no to attending a wedding held in this private paradise? With a beach on one side and rainforest on the other, this is the ultimate getaway from the bustle of the city. Thanks, Your Ever After Studios, for sending us this lovely set.

Ksenia: “Every minute of our big day was awesome. We had three months of tense preparations and travelled over 10,000 kilometers to make our dream come true: celebrate our wedding with our closest and dearest in the most beautiful and tranquil place in the world. So we enjoyed every moment of that joyful, relaxed and intimate day.

“We wanted our wedding to not interfere with the environment, but become part of it. So we chose a rustic wedding theme with natural decorations and the private beach resort, away from the noise of civilisation, as our venue.”

Tips from the bride: “Do remember that this is your day and your main task for the day is to enjoy every bit of it.”

Also, make sure you have a good wedding photographer so that the beautiful venue and special moments are all captured. In this instance, both Hanngevent and Stories by Integricity did an awesome job. Check out how adorable and cheeky this couple is; we sure need more brides like Laurice, who know just how to have fun. Thanks for sharing this story with us, Your Ever After Studios.

Tips from the bride: “Simple and intimate weddings are easy to organise; you can do it yourself if you have the time and the passion for details. The most important thing is to have fun with the preparations, and remember that it’s about you and your husband-to-be!”
