This bride headed out of town to hunt for her dream wedding venue, and she found it – a gorgeous chapel overlooking the ocean. These photos are lovely, and we have to thank MangoRed for them.

Olivia: “One of the most memorable parts was when I was waiting to walk down the aisle and the confirmation of our marriage. The bridegroom photo session at ‘Marlboro Country’ was breaktaking too, and I loved the father daughter dance, as well as our first dance as husband and wife.

The Quirky Wedding Of An Owl And A Deer

Photography by Axioo. www.theweddingnotebook.com

There is so much to love about this wedding. Besides the fact that the couple looks gorgeous, they are also extremely talented. Their wedding totally charmed us with all its fun colours and lovely details. We will let the photos speak for themselves. Thanks, Axioo, for sharing this wonderful story with us.

Tips from the bride: “I’m pretty sure you can find wedding inspiration everywhere. The most important thing is to find not just good vendors, but the right vendors that will complement your style.”

Confessions Of A Bride: Destination Wedding At Le Meridien, Koh Samui

Photo by Chris Spira Photography. www.theweddingnotebook.com

This Malaysian bride met her Australian groom while working in Hong Kong. They frequently walked to work together, and a relationship blossomed. He proposed in the Napa Valley after three years of courtship. This is more than just another beautiful wedding shoot by Chris Spira; it also provides great insight into the bride’s wedding planning process.

Bride: “We wanted a simple, cosy and intimate wedding. We wanted all our guests to get together for a holiday and hang out as a big family somewhere relaxing and calm, somewhere that most people hadn’t been to. Koh Samui was a strong choice – it was relatively easy to travel to and quieter compared to the more popular Phuket. We chose the date 13.12.14 because in Chinese, it sounds like ‘one life, one heart, forever’.

“Initially I wanted a lawn overlooking the sea, but it was very difficult to find a location in Koh Samui that could house the number of guests we had. We eventually chose Le Meridien because of its size, and we also fell in love with the idea of having The Pier that floats in the sea for the ceremony, and the lawn for the dinner.

A Love For All Seasons

There is no better spot to have a wedding than in front of an artist’s masterpiece, wouldn’t you say? The ‘Golden Mirror Carousel’ by Carsten Holler is breathtaking, with light reflecting off the golden surface. It is beautiful and, needless to say, not much décor is required. A bride who knows how to appreciate such a venue certainly has a creative flair, and this bride put much thought and DIY work into a lot of her wedding stationery. Thanks, Sayher Heffernan, for capturing the best moments of such a beautiful wedding.

Weddings like this one that break out of the conventional box put a smile on our faces. They had us right from the start, when she turned up in a tulle skirt and denim jacket. We love the modern minimalist set of stationery and posters that were set up with a hint of rustic, and with baby’s breath and soft pink hydrangeas. Thanks, Fabulous Moments, for sharing such a cool party with us. One of this bride’s tips was “be yourself”, because she certainly was!

Among the unforgettable highlights from the day was this travel video that was shot in Taiwan, Korean and Thailand, edited by the groom himself. A photographer once said that he would like to photograph his own bride because it would be so much more meaningful when she saw the beauty that he sees in her. We think this is true for Alan too, because Xuanti looks so adorable and beautiful here.

A Beautiful Exchange Of Words

Photo by Nigel Lim Photography. www.theweddingnotebook.com

We honestly never imagined that the Tropicana Golf and Country Resort could be transformed into such a beautiful garden wedding venue. This isn’t overdone; it has just enough details to make it lovely and warm. Sometimes, brides worry so much about their wedding that they lose the essence of the day itself. With this one, it feels like love was infused so deeply into the bridal couple’s love story that it was enough to make people believe in love once again. Thanks, Nigel Lim Photography, for the great photos.

Tzi-Li: “We remember waking up and thinking to ourselves, ‘Yep, today is the day. It has finally come!’ It wasn’t just a celebration of our love, but also a chance for our families to gather and meet each other again. Our most memorable moment was when we exchanged our vows – vows that spoke to our hearts and were so meaningful to the both of us. We did not practice it beforehand, and it meant the whole world to hear him utter those words. We didn’t vow to be perfect to each other, but to live life as one under our Creator, for better and for worse. It definitely brought tears to my eyes.

“Having our wedding rings etched with a symbol that represents ‘a tree that is deeply rooted, let our Love grow through all seasons’ was one of the highlights of the ceremony, as we both deeply understood what it meant when we exchanged rings. It was also an honour to wear my mum’s traditional wedding dress that she had worn for her wedding 30 years ago. It was very well kept and definitely a gem to be passed on.

“It didn’t rain, which was a huge relief for an outdoor wedding! We were so thankful and grateful that it was cloudy though, because it meant less heat. We wanted to have it outdoors during sunset (circa 6-7pm), when natural sunlight is at its best. Our intention was to have a warm, private and casual wedding ceremony without too many grand elements, which matched our personality. We had a curtain that closed as I walked in so that the environment was contained to family and friends while the ceremony was going on.

“The theme was rustic spring, with coral and white being the main colours. We took advantage of the abundance of greenery around, and matched it with brown for a more masculine touch for the groom and groomsmen. LDR was a big part of our relationship, and so there was a tinge of Scandinavian in our wedding, with pine cones as boutonnieres, salmon canapés and berry-inspired desserts. Suits and ties were out of the question because of the equatorial heat, and so we opted for a more casual yet proper dress code.

“We had fan cards that served as a fan for the weather, and that also had a 10 Fun Facts sheet on the two of us. Melvin is always full of surprises, and I fell in love with him all over again when he surprised me with love songs. He’s a very good singer, and I swooned. And he was singing to me on our wedding day! How romantic!”

A Simple And Beautiful Wedding In Italy

ZA Gallery: “We met Michael and Rozalia during Dolores and Martin’s wedding. They have a son named Maximillian and he was just a toddler when we saw him. Their wedding was held at LaVilla Hotel, Piedmonte, Italy. It was a simple wedding with close friends and family. Unfortunately, it was drizzling on the day, and the venue had to be moved to a sheltered place instead of the designated area, which had a view of Italy’s vineyards. Even so, they handled things positively and it turned out to be a great one, thanks to the owner of LaVilla who did a great job decorating the place.”

60s Style Glam

Photo by Chris Spira Photography. www.theweddingnotebook.com

This contemporary young couple in Shenzhen were determined to go against conventional wedding trends. For the gatecrashing ceremony, the bride wore a short, retro dress and a birdcage veil. She kept the guest list relatively small, turning the rooftop of The Langham Hotel into a romantic garden for their wedding, which was followed by an after party. From these photos that were beautifully captured by Chris Spira, one thing’s for sure: Vien and Michael look like they thoroughly enjoyed their big day. Weddings like this one are what we hope to see more.

Floral Romance

Wedding in Sydney. Photo by Tealily Photography. www.theweddingnotebook.com

Somehow, this bride just seems to know where to get her stuff. Their wedding bands were made and bought in Belgium, and she custom made the groomsmen’s attire and printed goods overseas. We are filled with excitement for this romantic affair. The lovely lace and romantic blooms are already enough to put a smile on our faces, never mind the gorgeous venue and stunning photos by Tealily Photography. A dream team that was carefully put together, it just doesn’t get any better than this.

Gordon: “Seeing her in that dress, walking down the aisle, was my favourite moment. The whole day was memorable, from getting ready to go to the church, then to Cockatoo Island for the shoot, the tea ceremony, reception, speeches, and the sparklers at the end. But it was the little moments we were able to steal and get away from everyone that were amazing. To be able to call each other husband and wife for the first time was very special.

Katrina: “Every moment was amazing, but getting married was our favourite moment! We had a lot of overseas guests, and we wanted to show them why we love Sydney as well as the great food and wine that we have, which is why we chose our venue. I love flowers so I wanted it to be very floral and romantic. I chose my florist not only because she is such a beautiful person, but also because she creates such beautiful work. I gave her free reign on the flowers; I told her I wanted to be surprised. And yes, I was very happy.

“The dress all started with my dear friends at Saigon Fabrics in the city. Inside was a treasure trove of all the best fabrics from around the world. Though it was overwhelming, the girls there were able to quickly narrow them down to suit my style and personality. It was such an amazing experience, having all these gorgeous fabrics being draped over you. My dressmaker, Yulia, was also on hand to help with the design. We were able to get all three of my dresses, the bridesmaids’ dresses, the flower girls’ dresses and both my mother and mother in law’s dresses there. Yulia was amazing; she was always calm, and always assured me that it was going to be beautiful. And she was right.

Contemporary Chic Wedding At Macalister Mansion, Penang

Slowly becoming one of the most sought after venues in Penang, this space is elegant on its own, both inside and out. Heartpatrick has been absent for a while setting up his studio, and this is the perfect way to mark his return. His work is amazing as usual, and it is rare for us to actually love his actual day photography as much as his bridal portraits. Enjoy this wedding, which was planned mostly by the couple themselves.

Ben: “The wedding was sweet and emotional, with a beautiful and spontaneous wedding reception after. The theme was built around the concept of 3Cs – chic, classy and contemporary. The modern, rebuilt mansion and French cuisine provided the perfect excuse for guests to really dress up for the occasion. The colour combination of white and pink further substantiated the minimalist concept. DIY items were used to add fun to the atmosphere, creating a classy yet casual setting for everyone.”

Tips from the bride: “Enjoy every step and moment along the way, and get someone you really trust to help you. A good live band and emcee are essential to spice up the atmosphere and to match your wedding theme. Make sure you check their portfolio beforehand. Also, get a pair of really good and comfy shoes! Trust me, you will need them all day long. A few makeup trial sessions are a must! Don’t leave it till the last minute to create your perfect look.”

When Time Makes All Things Beautiful

There is a repeat element throughout this story: time. Time brought this couple back together, and it was a long period before they tied the knot. A bangle that once belonged to the bride’s grandmother was passed down to her by her mother, and it will be passed on to the generations to come. The newlyweds satisfied the bride’s first dance dream, and they actually wed in a heritage building, which is a symbol of something beautiful that has withstood the test of time. They also had a long distance relationship for a period, which made their exchanging of vows extremely emotional. If ever there was a couple who understood the beauty of waiting, it is them. For surely there is a time for everything under heaven, and we are privileged to witness the fulfillment of that. Thanks, History Studio, for sharing these photos with us.

Carly: “Soki and I first met at the age of 8 at my cousin’s birthday party – he was my cousin’s primary school classmate. Eleven years passed and we didn’t meet again until we enrolled in the same course at university in 2002. That same year, our love story officially began. The love sprouted and bloomed for another 11 years before we tied the knot last summer and became lifelong partners.

“We decided to write our vows and only reveal them to each other during the ceremony. To our surprise, the contents of our vows were very similar. It was very emotional, and I was moved by every word that he said.

“Another memorable moment was during the traditional Chinese tea ceremony, when my mother helped me to put on the 50-year-old family heirloom – a golden bangle with a dragon and phoenix motif, which was given to my mother on her wedding day 33 years ago by my late grandmother. Wearing the bangle, I felt like I was carrying the blessing of my mother as well as my grandmother, even though she could not attend our wedding. It’s a keepsake for life, and I am sure that one day I will pass this on to my future daughter / daughter-in-law as a continuation of family love and blessings.
