A Surprise Romantic Proposal in Paris

Photo by Kiss Me in Paris. www.theweddingnotebook.com

After six years together, you’d think these high school sweethearts might find it difficult to keep a secret from each other. Much to Dasha’s great surprise, Shil bought a ring, planned a holiday, and even got their loved ones to Paris so he could pop the question! From the costume changes – that yellow dress and blue suit channelling serious ‘Beauty and the Beast’ vibes – to the sights of romantic Paris, these bridal portraits are an absolute dream. Many thanks to Cengiz Ozelsel from Kiss in Paris Photography for these postcard-perfect shots!

Dasha: “Shil popped the question during sunrise at the Trocadéro in Paris, with the Eiffel Tower as the backdrop. Shortly after, 15 of our friends and family members surprised me! He’d even hired a photographer for the surprise proposal and for an engagement photoshoot, which he initially sold as an anniversary gift.”

The beauty of wedding portraits is that any location can serve as a backdrop to your story, and with an experienced photographer behind the lens, your experience will be complete. In this wedding portrait album, an adventurous and artistic couple explore typhoon-hit Hong Kong, discovering some very vintage-esque and quirky spots. Thanks again thegaleria, for reminding us of the beauty of film when done right!

Destination Pre-Wedding Shoot in Eclectic Tokyo

It’s pretty normal to feel overwhelmed when your list of wedding things to do gets longer by the day. Why not take some time off with your spouse-to-be, committing only to the moment and the love you share? Rekindle your passion for each other as you explore the charm and flavours of an eclectic city like Tokyo. Like this couple discovered, it will be nothing short of the needed getaway that will also help in the preservation of good memories.

Taking to the market, streets and buildings, the lovebirds expressed their love of art and wonder against the fast paced and raw backdrop that Tokyo affords. Destination mood albums are good fun and rewarding – provided you are able to place your trust in your photographer of course. Thanks for these brilliant pictures, Kai Picture!

Enchanting Waterfall and Black Sand Beach Engagement Shoot in Bali

Photo by Fire Wood and Earth. www.theweddingnotebook.com

We were absolutely enthralled by these waterfall captures that were taken at Tukad Cepung in Bali, Indonesia, but that was just half of it. The couple also had some photos taken at a secluded black sand beach, Nyanyi Beach, as the sun set on the horizon. Many thanks to Fire, Wood & Earth for these marvellous shots!

“The waterfall truly looked like a curtain, a sparkly cascade with the sunlight on it. We even managed to get some dramatic lighting with the sunlight piercing through the waterfall into the cave, creating the most mesmerising photos for the couple,” said the photographer from Fire, Wood & Earth. “As for the black sand beach, it was serene, soft and beautiful. At dusk, when the sky darkened, the soft light fell upon the surface of the sea and sand, giving it all a poetic vibe.”

Artistic and Nostalgic Wedding Portraits in Hong Kong

Samuel Goh Photography. www.theweddingnotebook.com

We love the artistry in this wedding portrait album. There’s something romantic about nostalgic wedding portraits with that film noir-esque feel, the sort we might see in our grandparents’ photo albums. Many thanks to Samuel Goh Photography for these splendid shots.

For Hui Jin and Shiu Yuen, the effort they put into their shoot was worth it. Their wedding portraits were shot in several locations in Hong Kong, including a rooftop in Sham Shui Po, Oi Man Village, the High Island Reservoir East Dam, Montane Mansion and Parkes Street. Simply gorgeous!

Leisurely Street Stroll in Tokyo

A day out exploring the streets of a foreign city with your better half, dressed in your most comfortable outfits, could well be one of the better ways to shoot your engagement album – especially if you’re not one for “all that fuss”.

Take your cue from this couple, who wanted to explore the streets of Tokyo together at a leisurely pace, and have a photo album at the end of it. You’ll need a photographer that you’re both at ease with, and simply let them work their magic in telling your story. Thanks for these fantastic photos, White Image!

Glamorous High Fashion Bridal Portraits in Shanghai

Shanghai never disappoints, with its rich history and twinkling lights in stark contrast with the skyscrapers and modern infrastructure. Yet the allure of old China remains when you explore its sidewalks and pavements, and these photos are proof.

We love the bride’s jaw-dropping outfits and dramatic makeup, the hustle and bustle of the streets, and especially that rooftop shot overlooking the Shanghai skyline! Many thanks to Oly Ruiz of Metrophoto for these shots, which, by the way, were only the first stop for the couple in a series of locations across China. Don’t miss part 2 of their bridal portraits, which were taken in Lijiang and Shangri-La.

Untouched Beauty: Traditional Bridal Portraits in Lijiang and Shangri-La, China

If heaven were a place on earth, Shangri-La would come close. Part of the Tibetan Autonomous Region, it’s an untouched landscape, a slice of tucked-away magic with its quiet people, majestic monasteries and curious wildlife.

Worthy of a fashion editorial, the styling of these bridal portraits, with those impeccable outfits against the scenic backdrops creating the perfect contrast of colours, patterns and textures, simply took our breath away! What an outstanding job by Oly Ruiz of Metrophoto. These shots are actually the second part in a series of bridal portraits taken across China, so don’t forget to check out part 1, which was taken in Shanghai.

Winter Photoshoot in Kanazawa and Shirakawa-go

The howling winds had come and gone, leaving behind a picturesque landscape of white hills and snow-capped houses in Shirakawa-go, Japan. Reflecting their love for the outdoors, this adventurous couple took their pre-wedding shoot to the Miyagama River and the Higashi Chaya-gai, with breathtaking views of the old Japanese cityscape.

“I’d describe it as majestic,” said the photographer, Iluminen, who enjoyed this trip as much as the couple did. “Even though this was our second trip to Japan, it was special because it was our first time visiting the artsy city of Kanazawa together, as well as the snow-capped village of Shirakawa-go. We decided to end that first night in the beautiful city with a tasty bowl of squid ink ramen, great company and plenty of laughter.”

“Au Naturel” Bridal Portraits In Bali

Photo by Fire, Wood and Earth. www.theweddingnotebook.com

It has been said that a successful marriage is about falling in love many times, always with the same person. Shot on a quiet and secluded beach in Bali, the indie-vintage tone of these photos made for a dreamy throwback to the times when this couple were young, carefree and newly in love.

Keeping things as natural as possible to preserve its essence, they themed their engagement shoot ‘Reminiscence of Love’, and as Andre of Fire, Wood & Earth shared: “Laughter and happy memories filled the air as they casually recollected portions of their love story in between camera clicks.” Well done, Andre, on producing this brilliant and memorable album!

A Road Trip Of Beautiful Memories In New Zealand

More than just beautiful photos captured amidst the majestic backdrop of mountains, rivers and heritage buildings in New Zealand, this couple’s love story is one that warms our hearts: they met as students in New Zealand, and upon graduating planned to begin their lives together, but first they wanted to honour their memories at some of their favourite places in the land where they fell in love.

Kiko and Sean look gorgeous together, and check out the bride’s blush gown photographed in the picturesque outdoors. We love the tenderness and simplicity captured in these bridal portraits – what a brilliant idea to do this on a road trip!

Shared Sam Leong of Fixer Photography: “We met many times before the shoot but we didn’t stage the shoot. We just planned the locations and things were really casual once we got there. We drove around and observed what we liked and shot when we saw something good. Most importantly, we shared a close relationship with the couple, which made the job easier and very enjoyable.” Well done, Sam!
