Magical Outdoor Portraits in Japan

Photo by GMPS Wedding Film and Photography. www.theweddingnotebook.com

Clear skies and bright sunlight always make photographs appear fresh and inviting. Braving the biting cold of Mount Fuji, Lake Kawaguchiko and Tokyo in Japan, this couple was handsomely rewarded with beuatiful landscapes and awesome wedding portraits that they will enjoy forever.

Look at the snow-carpeted fields with their tall, bald firs and cherry blossom trees in full bloom! This, along with the shots by the lake with majestic Mount Fuji in the background and those taken in eclectic Tokyo, collectively infuse the album with an unparalleled charm that is unique to Japan.

Many thanks for these amazing pictures, GMPS Wedding Film & Photography!

Artistic and Nostalgic Wedding Portraits in Hong Kong

Samuel Goh Photography. www.theweddingnotebook.com

We love the artistry in this wedding portrait album. There’s something romantic about nostalgic wedding portraits with that film noir-esque feel, the sort we might see in our grandparents’ photo albums. Many thanks to Samuel Goh Photography for these splendid shots.

For Hui Jin and Shiu Yuen, the effort they put into their shoot was worth it. Their wedding portraits were shot in several locations in Hong Kong, including a rooftop in Sham Shui Po, Oi Man Village, the High Island Reservoir East Dam, Montane Mansion and Parkes Street. Simply gorgeous!

Glamorous High Fashion Bridal Portraits in Shanghai

Shanghai never disappoints, with its rich history and twinkling lights in stark contrast with the skyscrapers and modern infrastructure. Yet the allure of old China remains when you explore its sidewalks and pavements, and these photos are proof.

We love the bride’s jaw-dropping outfits and dramatic makeup, the hustle and bustle of the streets, and especially that rooftop shot overlooking the Shanghai skyline! Many thanks to Oly Ruiz of Metrophoto for these shots, which, by the way, were only the first stop for the couple in a series of locations across China. Don’t miss part 2 of their bridal portraits, which were taken in Lijiang and Shangri-La.

Untouched Beauty: Traditional Bridal Portraits in Lijiang and Shangri-La, China

If heaven were a place on earth, Shangri-La would come close. Part of the Tibetan Autonomous Region, it’s an untouched landscape, a slice of tucked-away magic with its quiet people, majestic monasteries and curious wildlife.

Worthy of a fashion editorial, the styling of these bridal portraits, with those impeccable outfits against the scenic backdrops creating the perfect contrast of colours, patterns and textures, simply took our breath away! What an outstanding job by Oly Ruiz of Metrophoto. These shots are actually the second part in a series of bridal portraits taken across China, so don’t forget to check out part 1, which was taken in Shanghai.

Winter Photoshoot in Kanazawa and Shirakawa-go

The howling winds had come and gone, leaving behind a picturesque landscape of white hills and snow-capped houses in Shirakawa-go, Japan. Reflecting their love for the outdoors, this adventurous couple took their pre-wedding shoot to the Miyagama River and the Higashi Chaya-gai, with breathtaking views of the old Japanese cityscape.

“I’d describe it as majestic,” said the photographer, Iluminen, who enjoyed this trip as much as the couple did. “Even though this was our second trip to Japan, it was special because it was our first time visiting the artsy city of Kanazawa together, as well as the snow-capped village of Shirakawa-go. We decided to end that first night in the beautiful city with a tasty bowl of squid ink ramen, great company and plenty of laughter.”

“Au Naturel” Bridal Portraits In Bali

Photo by Fire, Wood and Earth. www.theweddingnotebook.com

It has been said that a successful marriage is about falling in love many times, always with the same person. Shot on a quiet and secluded beach in Bali, the indie-vintage tone of these photos made for a dreamy throwback to the times when this couple were young, carefree and newly in love.

Keeping things as natural as possible to preserve its essence, they themed their engagement shoot ‘Reminiscence of Love’, and as Andre of Fire, Wood & Earth shared: “Laughter and happy memories filled the air as they casually recollected portions of their love story in between camera clicks.” Well done, Andre, on producing this brilliant and memorable album!

A Road Trip Of Beautiful Memories In New Zealand

More than just beautiful photos captured amidst the majestic backdrop of mountains, rivers and heritage buildings in New Zealand, this couple’s love story is one that warms our hearts: they met as students in New Zealand, and upon graduating planned to begin their lives together, but first they wanted to honour their memories at some of their favourite places in the land where they fell in love.

Kiko and Sean look gorgeous together, and check out the bride’s blush gown photographed in the picturesque outdoors. We love the tenderness and simplicity captured in these bridal portraits – what a brilliant idea to do this on a road trip!

Shared Sam Leong of Fixer Photography: “We met many times before the shoot but we didn’t stage the shoot. We just planned the locations and things were really casual once we got there. We drove around and observed what we liked and shot when we saw something good. Most importantly, we shared a close relationship with the couple, which made the job easier and very enjoyable.” Well done, Sam!

White On White In The Winter Wonderland Of Hallstatt Austria

More memorable than the winter chill they experienced during this shoot is surely the photos that they got to take home! We love this romantic and unique set of destination bridal portraits that were shot in Hallstatt, Austria. Kudos to Sam Leong of Fixer Photography for these remarkable photos.

Says Sam: “We had many meetings and prepared Tsin Yee and Teck Keong on what to expect from their morning and evening shoot sessions in Venice. It was after that conversation that they studied their options further and decided on Hallstatt, Austria.

“We weren’t quite prepared for the snowstorm that greeted us on our arrival. A quick hunt for winter jackets, snow shoes, gloves… and a short time later, our shoot began and we all continued to brave the elements until we got everything we wanted.”

Pre-Wedding Motorhome Adventure Across New Zealand

New Zealand is well known for its scenic landscapes, and what a waste it would be if couples were to simply rush from one spot to another just for a few photographs. We love these photos for their sense of adventure and you can just feel the couple enjoying the experience. The idea behind your bridal portraits should be to make memories and capture your genuine love for each other, not to stage it.

Indra of Iluminen: “This wasn’t a typical pre-wedding shoot, it was more of a ‘let’s go on an adventure’. We drove for hours listening to music and stopped at places that caught our interest. We parked along wide open fields, fired up the stove, cooked our meals and enjoyed our wine.”

Frankly, we can’t think of a better way for a couple to see the world together before they put a ring on it. Kudos to Iluminen for these awesome shots!

Bridal Portraits In Sydney: A Celebration Of 10 Years

Photo by Wedding Gallery Studio. www.theweddingnotebook.com

Think of marriage as a tree supplied by three roots: trust, commitment and delight. This couple’s courtship of 10 years, which included a period when it was long distance, is testament that good things don’t come easy and the merited prize of each other is indeed sweet. Taking their portrait shoot to Sydney, Australia, where the bride studied, the couple revisited their favourite places and delighted in the precious supply of memories that they have built together.

Lilian recalled: “We wanted a relaxing, simple photoshoot and I even handpicked my own bouquet of fresh flowers just the day before.” Bridal portrait shoots can be quite demanding depending on the location, but you can always tell when a couple had a great time. Hats off to Wedding Gallery Studio Sydney for these fabulous photos!

Winter Passion In Nagano City, Japan

Photography by The Royal Workshop Japan. www.theweddingnotebook.com

Like the changing seasons, a relationship adjusts and transitions in preparation for what is to come. As this couple commits to a lifetime together, their union is symbolised by the snow-capped woodlands that weather the winters of life and delight in the dawn of spring.

For an off–the-beaten-track portrait experience, Daniel of The Royal Workshop Japan led this couple through the icy paths of Nagano City, a popular temple town in the Land of the Rising Sun. We are transfixed by the passion and depth in these photos. Astounding masterpieces, Daniel!

In spite of the biting cold, the couple followed through on the concept to explore uncharted lands together and document the thrills that come with stepping into an environment outside of their comfort zone. What ensued from the frosty experience was a set of wedding portraits that aptly captured the couple’s sense of adventure, and more importantly, that served as a reminder of their story and how blessed they are to journey together.

Stunning Landscapes In New Zealand

Photo by Peter Herman Photography. www.theweddingnotebook.com

If you’re running short on ideas on how to make your wedding portrait album a remarkable one, let a stunning landscape win half the battle for you. Waen Yien and Vui Jiin’s beautiful love story practically narrates itself as they stood in the New Zealand’s countryside, against arresting backdrops of majestic mountains, grasslands, rivers, a quaint cobblestone church and even the night sky ablaze with stars.

It was a full day’s shoot with four wardrobe and hairdo changes for the couple, but they handled it with ease thanks to the beautiful weather. On a deeper level, we love how the vast expanse of the landscapes around them and the starry night skies suggest the beauty and myriad possibilities that await them as husband and wife. Amazing captures, Peter Herman Photography!
