A Fairytale Church Destination Wedding In Italy

VRP Photography. www.theweddingnotebook.com

Love can truly happen anywhere! This is an East meets West love story: the bride is Malaysian, the groom is Italian, and they were brought together in Australia. Tying the knot in the groom’s hometown of Caserta, the newlyweds exchanged their vows at the Cathedral of San Michele Arcangelo.

Located on top of a hill overlooking the town, surrounded by lush greenery and covered in a dreamy fog, the beautiful thousand-year-old church was right out of a fairytale. The church’s classical architecture was also gorgeously complemented by the pink tones of the bridesmaids’ dresses and refreshing white flowers and décor. Many thanks to VRP Photography for this captivating set of photos!

A Wes Anderson-Inspired Boho Chic Forest Wedding In Bandung

Photo by Fire, Wood and Earth Photography. www.theweddingnotebook.com

Set in the middle of a misty, dreamy forest and with a striking injection of colour, this wedding perfectly encapsulated the bride and groom’s personality. Thanks to their love for colour and pompoms, the Pine Hill in Bandung was transformed into a fun, bright festival in celebration of this joyous occasion.

Some things were kept simple, such as the bridesmaids’ dresses, which were in silver grey. But we were absolutely blown away by the bride’s reception gown, with its full orange skirt that perfectly complemented the many textures and colours of this soiree. An additional decorative note that we loved – the giant dream catcher set in the middle of their wedding arch. What a perfect design choice! Many thanks to Fire, Wood & Earth for this amazing set of photos, and to Bozza Event Organizer for bringing such a crazy concept to life.

A Grand Cathedral Ceremony In Jakarta Followed By A Rustic Outdoor Reception At The Edge, Bali

Even when you’re in your home country, you can have a destination wedding of sorts! This couple had their wedding ceremony in Jakarta Cathedral, then their dinner reception the next day at The Edge Villas Uluwatu, Bali.

Jakarta Cathedral, with its vaulted teakwood ceilings and sunlight streaming through long, narrow windows above the grand main altar, needed only minimal decorations. From the bride’s baby’s breath bouquet to the white-on-white floral pew hangers and textured white carpet, everything was kept simple. This allowed the grandeur of the venue to truly shine, lending an air of solemnity and awe to the proceedings.

Many thanks to Illuminen Photography for sharing these wonderful photos with us.

A Breathtaking Intimate Wedding in the Alps

Everything about this wedding was picture perfect: from the breathtaking backdrop of the Austrian Alps to the spontaneous fun this couple had with their close friends and family. Love was clearly in the air – between the bride and groom and the outpouring emotions from their friends and family. Keeping their wedding intimate and close to their heart, the bride had two wedding dresses – one of which was made by her best friend, and choosing to pair it with a leather jacket made it even more glamourous. It was truly a celebration of love, beautifully captured by Everly Pictures.

A Tropical Glamour Cosy Beach Wedding in Uluwatu, Bali

Wedding at The Istana, Uluwatu Bali. Photo by Terralogical. www.theweddingnotebook.com

Keeping things romantic and intimate yet glamorous, this bride and groom definitely infused their wedding with their personality, from the bride opting to wear a glitzy gold gown in lieu of a traditional white wedding dress to her bridesmaids wearing all-black gowns. Complementing the bride was the groom in his dark floral blazer, the groomsmen’s white shirts and leaf boutonnières, and the floral bouquets of tropical leafy greens and pineapples as aisle décor. We especially love the lush green wedding arch where the couple exchanged their vows in front of their close family and friends, overlooking the romantic beaches of Uluwatu. Many thanks to Terralogical Photography for this truly romantic set of wedding photos!

An East-Meets-West Vineyard Wedding In France

Bluecicada Photography. www.theweddingnotebook.com

Vineyards are the perfect venue for an intimate wedding, and we love how this couple infused their personality, story and heritage into their nuptials. Besides the subtle inclusion of the bride’s half-Indian heritage and the groom’s creative designs, they also included their friends and family, as well as utilised the romantic outdoor space to the fullest.

Keeping their décor minimal to enhance the French vineyard setting, they used lavender as part of the decorations and everything just came together beautifully. Many thanks to Et Voila Weddings for another beautiful wedding and Caroline Cuinet Wellings of BlueCicada Photography for this incredible set of photos. The bride was truly resplendent and the wedding looked every bit out of a fairytale.

Nina: “We had a clear vision of the atmosphere we wanted for the wedding: something relaxed but special as our friends and family would have travelled to be there. We were looking for somewhere with a wow factor but not a traditional French Chateaux as we wanted it outdoors to make the most of the beautiful Provençale countryside. The vine arch was a natural focal point for the ceremony and the courtyard was perfect for dinner as it was enclosed but outdoors, retaining a really intimate feel. As soon as we saw the venue, we knew it was perfect.

“I’m half-Indian and I wanted to incorporate some of the Indian and Hindu traditions into the wedding. My dress was the first one I tried on but I loved it as it was so different – it complemented my figure and it was made from crinkled silk chiffon, which gathered at the centre to create a short train – almost like a saree. I also wore Indian-style jewellery. My bridesmaids’ dresses felt slightly Indian-inspired as well, as they were bejewelled and the skirt was draped in the front – similar to my dress. The flowergirl dresses were from India, and they had bangles and bags from India to throw lavender from.

In a city like Rome, with a backdrop that’s so rich in art and history, a classic and romantic wedding is perhaps the only way to go. Here, the opulent interior of the Basilica Santa Maria in Ara Coeli was complemented by the bride and groom’s traditional style, with pastel pink hues balancing out the majestic gold. Many thanks to Axioo for capturing these utterly breathtaking shots of the newlyweds in Rome with all its grandeur.

A Modern Rustic Beach Wedding at Shangri-La’s Boracay Resort & Spa

Keeping the colours neutral and textures minimal was the initial plan for this couple as they didn’t want anything outrageous – and they were pleasantly surprised when everything came together so well. From the nautical navy colours and taupe rope textures to the gilded accents and lush green tablescape, everything was finished with a touch of elegance. We especially love the wedding logo on the small boat, which was subtle yet special. Thanks to Mayad Studios for capturing these beautiful wedding photos.

An intimate soiree filled with cocktails, summer breezes and partying late into the night are all reminiscent of a luxe Hamptons party in the summer. Aside from the all-white glamour of this wedding, we love the unexpected details that made it really stand out, from the bridal bouquet of cascading white orchids to the groom’s light linen suit and the mother of the bride’s sleek and gorgeous jumpsuit. The white floral décor added to the beauty of the day, starting with the breathtaking floral arch and continuing with the reception table centerpieces. Jacqueline: “Our best friend created a video for us which we played at our reception. It was a culmination of the past 12 years we’d been together, and the best times we’ve had with our friends who were with us in that room and who’d travelled from all corners of the world to celebrate our wedding. It really was such a special video, made even more special by us being with the people who were in it. By the end of the night, everybody was on the dance floor! For both myself and Sharif, it was a time to finally let loose and party with our friends and family, and celebrate the tears, stress and joy over the past months of planning our wedding, which ultimately led to the most incredible and beautiful day we’d both dreamed of!

“We both have a love for summer, cocktails and poolside soirées, so we loved the idea of having a ‘Hamptons’ style wedding theme. Everybody was dressed to the nines! We wanted a relaxed chic feeling for our wedding – men in shorts with different coloured linen jackets and ladies in bright summer dresses.

“For the reception, we wanted to bring our ‘Hamptons’ theme to life, so instead of table numbers, we had individual table names such as South Hampton, Montauk, Long Island, etc., which are different areas in the Hamptons. To act as place cards, we used navy and tan coloured luggage tags with each guest’s name, and that was also their wedding favour. To top it off, we had a signature ‘Hamptons’ cocktail which brought that summer feeling and was definitely a hit with our guests.”

Tips from the bride: “Think about the type of weather you’ll be getting married in. I knew it was going to be humid and extremely hot in Phuket so I searched for a light silk and backless wedding dress, which really helped me with the humidity on the day!

“Have your Maid of Honour carry a ‘survival kit’ during the ceremony and reception – it’s a lifesaver. Mine had everything from tissues, lip balm and lipstick to safety pins and band aids.

“Pictures, pictures, pictures! Print and save as many pictures as you can when it comes to the type of hair and makeup you’d like for your wedding. It’s always the best guide for your hair and makeup artist and you can play around with each style. Just remember that what you see in pictures doesn’t always work on your hair and face, so it’s always best to have a trial beforehand.”

A Cosy And Romantic Beach Wedding At Villa Bayu Gita, Bali

What really stood out in this wedding were the subtle decorative elements that brought everything together – from the bride’s beautiful ruffles on her wedding dress to the gilded textures on the furniture and décor.

Keeping the colour palette clean with white, gold and blush, the bride let the breathtaking beach views and romantic sunset set the perfect backdrop to their nuptials. The hanging lights for their outdoor reception also added a touch of magic after dusk. Many thanks to DiktatPhotography for capturing this gorgeous set of photos!

Michelle: “We decided to write our own wedding vows to each other, so when my husband recited his vows to me, I could not stop crying! He kept his vows personal and close to the heart; I could not have felt more immeasurably loved and blessed to have found someone like him.”

Jong Sheng: “Watching Michelle walk out from the villa on her dad’s arm with the biggest smile I have ever seen and looking absolutely stunning was such a special moment. It was an amazing feeling seeing the woman of my dreams walk towards me, knowing that in about 15 minutes, we will be making our vows to grow old together.”
