Breezy, Laid-Back Wedding In Cove 55, Sarawak

Henry Golding and Liv Lo wedding. Photo by Andy Phe Photography. www.theweddingnotebook.com

Classy meets casual in this radiant, tender wedding held in Santubong, Sarawak, amidst a setting of lush greens and white roses. Henry was sharp and dapper in a lapis blue suit while Liv glowed and sparkled in a stunning barebacked gown. The atmosphere was soft and relaxed yet splashed in glamour and style.

As the rose-covered letters of their initials reflected off the water of a nearby pool, delicate flowers and fairy lights danced in the night in a wash of heliotrope. The stately colonial architecture of Cove 55 was also the perfect enchanting backdrop to the Iban Ngajat dancers and this beautiful couple’s whimsically Malaysian alfresco reception. Hats off to Andy Phe Photography for a job very well done!

An Outdoor Spring Wedding in Lamont’s Bishop House, Perth

Dennis Yap Photography. www.theweddingnotebook.com

Jimmy Choo bridal shoes. Dennis Yap Photography. www.theweddingnotebook.com

This intimate wedding was held in Lamont’s Bishop House, a restaurant located in the heart of the Perth city. Surrounded by tall buildings, it has a lush expanse of lawn fringed with trees and a courtyard that is perfect for hosting a lunch reception.

Other than a vibrant peony backdrop, the ceremony space needed no further additions, while the banquet style reception tables were decorated with in-season flowers in gold vases. The colours were chosen with a spring theme in mind, bringing different shades of pink, fuchsia, yellow and orange together. Set against lush foliage and bathed in warm sunshine, the celebration certainly looked like a bright and happy start to the couple’s marriage journey.

Many thanks to Dennis Yap Photography for this peek into Janet and Ethan’s big day!

A Wes Anderson-Inspired Boho Chic Forest Wedding In Bandung

Photo by Fire, Wood and Earth Photography. www.theweddingnotebook.com

Set in the middle of a misty, dreamy forest and with a striking injection of colour, this wedding perfectly encapsulated the bride and groom’s personality. Thanks to their love for colour and pompoms, the Pine Hill in Bandung was transformed into a fun, bright festival in celebration of this joyous occasion.

Some things were kept simple, such as the bridesmaids’ dresses, which were in silver grey. But we were absolutely blown away by the bride’s reception gown, with its full orange skirt that perfectly complemented the many textures and colours of this soiree. An additional decorative note that we loved – the giant dream catcher set in the middle of their wedding arch. What a perfect design choice! Many thanks to Fire, Wood & Earth for this amazing set of photos, and to Bozza Event Organizer for bringing such a crazy concept to life.

An Extravagant Outdoor Wedding at Alila Villas Uluwatu

Flowers and nature took centre stage at this beautiful wedding in Uluwatu, Bali. The most breathtaking element was the wedding arch, replete with pink roses in full bloom, lush green vines and leaves, and with the added touch of an elegant blush pink ribbon. The elaborate tablescapes were adorned with roses, succulents and baby’s breath, as well as wooden branches with golden tea lights in geometric terrarium pots and holders. For an extra touch of romance, tall stalks of cherry blossom branches flanked the wedding aisle. Many thanks to Terralogical for this breathtaking set of photos.

An Outdoor Wedding At The Smokehouse, Cameron Highlands

Daren Chong Photography. Christian Dior wedding shoes. www.theweddingnotebook.com

Here’s another example of how picking the right venue for your wedding ceremony can save you lots of time and money in the decorating department, while also keeping your guests as comfortable as possible.

This lovely wedding was held in the beautifully kept gardens of The Old Smokehouse in Cameron Highlands, which needed absolutely no additions at all to make it picture perfect. With lovely flowers and foliage everywhere, you can see from the photos how much everyone enjoyed the setting. How we wish there was a way to fill every outdoor venue in Malaysia with cool, sweet highland air!

For the reception in the dining hall, the table settings had an English countryside feel, with red and white gingham placemats, and fir boughs and pine cones decorating the length of the table. This would also work very well for a Christmas season wedding or party. Many thanks to Daren Chong Photography for sharing these photos with us.

A Majestic Floral Cliff Top Wedding At Khayangan Estate, Uluwatu

Almost as if it were straight out of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, this beautiful wedding had one defining element: flowers and botanicals – everywhere! Orchids were a particular favourite, as it held significant meaning for the bridal couple, and they covered everything from the decorations, invitations, and favours to even the lace cape of the bride’s evening gown. We’re also loving the bride’s dress, which was custom made by Yefta Gunawan, one of Indonesia’s leading bridal designers.

The bride and groom exchanged their vows amidst a truly stunning décor of white rose petals and hanging roses, which created a ceiling over the intimate and serene space with its breathtaking cliff top view. Replicating this elegant décor for their reception, they opted for fresh flowers that adorned the tables as well as the ceiling, and fresh pink roses for the tea ceremony. Many thanks to Terralogical for capturing this absolutely gorgeous set of photos.

A Powder Blue Garden Wedding At The Club Saujana Resort

Munkeat Photography. www.theweddingnotebook.com

There’s always the risk of rain when it comes to an outdoor garden wedding, but the risk also pays off – there will be gratitude if the weather complies, and you learn to smile through the hard times if it doesn’t.

For this couple’s lovely nuptials, they got rain before Mother Nature finally blessed them with clear skies, and the joy on their special day was palpable. The powder blue theme with hints of blush and gold perfectly complemented the lush greens of the garden, with added decorative pops of baby’s breath. High ceilings and wooden decorative elements make for a perfect rustic vintage wedding, what more if some of the wooden details were actually crafted by the groom himself?

This couple chose to personalise their wedding in a very special way, and complementing their wooden décor was a gorgeous colour palette of dusty blue and soft pastel pink, all brought together with touches of gold. Many thanks to hellojanelee Photography for capturing these wonderful moments – from the joy and laughter right down to the amazing décor! A Tropical Glamour Cosy Beach Wedding in Uluwatu, Bali

Wedding at The Istana, Uluwatu Bali. Photo by Terralogical. www.theweddingnotebook.com

Keeping things romantic and intimate yet glamorous, this bride and groom definitely infused their wedding with their personality, from the bride opting to wear a glitzy gold gown in lieu of a traditional white wedding dress to her bridesmaids wearing all-black gowns. Complementing the bride was the groom in his dark floral blazer, the groomsmen’s white shirts and leaf boutonnières, and the floral bouquets of tropical leafy greens and pineapples as aisle décor. We especially love the lush green wedding arch where the couple exchanged their vows in front of their close family and friends, overlooking the romantic beaches of Uluwatu. Many thanks to Terralogical Photography for this truly romantic set of wedding photos!

A Sweet Pastel Outdoor Garden Wedding at Thistle Port Dickson

Outdoor weddings mean you’re at the mercy of unpredictable weather, and for this lucky couple, their wedding was blessed with last minute sunshine! They got to exchange their vows against the backdrop of a picturesque sunset by the beach, with the salty sea breeze and a beautiful flower arch. Pastel colours and florals added a sweet romantic touch to the décor, and we especially love the different bridesmaid dress styles. May: “Every single thing was amazing and memorable! It was an outdoor wedding and forecasts from various sources indicated a thunderstorm for that day. The weather for the few days before the wedding was consistently thunderstorms. We were all prepared for the wet weather plan and I thought months of wedding preparations were going to be washed away by the rain.

“But on our wedding day, it drizzled a bit during the rehearsal that afternoon and then it stopped. We were all holding our breaths till the very last minute… and then a miracle happened! The sun came out from behind the dark clouds and the weather was perfect throughout the matrimonial ceremony and dinner. Both Gentry and I have been so blessed by God in many ways, including our wonderful friends and families who prayed for us and journeyed with us throughout our wedding. We are forever grateful!

“We wanted an outdoor wedding by the beach and our venue was perfect – a garden overlooking the Straits of Malacca. Our matrimonial ceremony was held during sunset, so we thought warm colours would be great. We love white and pastel colours so we chose white, gold, faded pink and faded grey as our colour palette. We had thank you cards with a heartfelt message from us to each guest who attended the wedding – we thought it would be a good and simple memento for our guests to keep.”

Tips from the bride: “Just relax and enjoy the biggest day of your life!”

A Gilded, Glamorous Wedding At Tanarimba, Janda Baik

This juxtaposition of gold and gilded glamour against the lush greenery of nature certainly made for a comfortable yet elegant wedding. Despite the detailed décor, the couple kept things cosy and intimate, infusing much of their personality into their wedding. With simple décor points like white drapery and green vines looping the wedding arch, modern bridesmaids’ dresses, magical hanging lights, and elaborate, gorgeous centrepieces with hanging vines and beads, everything came together perfectly. Many thanks to Brian Ho of thegaleria for capturing this stunning set of photos.

Charlotte: “It was really special to have my father walk beside me and give me away to the man I was about to marry. It was the best father-daughter moment. He was way more composed than me, as he was calm, smiling and initiated applause from our guests. When he handed me over to Adam, he paused and said, ‘Please take good care of her for me.’ Strong emotions welled up and we had to hold back tears.

“Another special moment was when Adam surprised me by singing ‘Like I’m Gonna Lose You’ and serenaded us into our first dance. Also, when I stepped into our venue hall early in the morning of our big day and saw that my entire extended family was already there busy setting up and decorating the whole place. I knew the day was going to be more than great because everyone who has loved and supported us from day one were there.

“We wanted a place that was away from the hustle and bustle of the city, yet not too far away. We loved the greenery and wooden structures of Tanarimba and felt comfortable in that setting. Adam and I wanted to make sure our wedding had a lot of ‘us’ and our personality in it. We had each of our guests’ names written in calligraphy (by my best friend) for their place cards, the napkins were imprinted with our wedding logo, the tables were named according to our relationship milestones (such as our courtship, where he proposed, our first kiss, etc). And for wedding favours, we had our logo made into stickers and stuck them onto wine glasses for the guests to eventually take home.”

Tips from the bride: “We were our own wedding planners so if you’re going down that route too, get your gowns, heels and makeup sorted early, as that’ll give you more time to plan the rest. I used a lot of images from Pinterest and created a moodboard to share with my bridal party. Be certain about what you want, delegate tasks according to your strengths, make a list to prioritise what is absolutely necessary and what can be omitted based on budget. For example, a good photographer is paramount, so I made sure I got one whose style is one I admired. Also, make very thorough event briefs and communicate that meticulously to your trusted friends who’ll be helping you coordinate your wedding day because on that day, you’ll just want to look beautiful, soak in the moments, and rock and roll.”
