A Glamorous Affair In The Ritz-Carlton And The Majestic Hotel, KL

This was a two-day event starting with a simple ceremony and lunch reception at The Ritz Carlton, followed by a beautiful dinner reception at The Majestic Hotel. Both these hotels have that colonial interior that is actually quite hard not to love.

The interesting thing about this wedding, which was carefully planned by My Wedding Planner, was that there was no colour theme. Instead, Wishing Tree created lighthearted, beautiful floral arrangements with light pastel blooms. Thanks, Adam Ong, for capturing this beautiful wedding in photos.

Stunning Bride In Pallas Couture

Merge Photography. www.theweddingnotebook.com

We adore the fact that weddings are looking simpler these days as brides begin to understand the true meaning of weddings. We previously posted this list of things that are worth investing in, and this couple got it just right! Her Pallas Couture gown was one of the bride’s best decisions as she looked absolutely stunning, and of course having a great photographer like Merge Photography means she now has a great set of photos.

Old Hollywood Glam

This timeless and elegant look never fails to steal our hearts. St John’s Cathedral, which is one of the longest standing Western ecclesiastical buildings in Hong Kong, seems to be the perfect match to Helen’s vintage glam dress, and the Rolls Royce completes the look. History Studio: this is just too lovely, thanks for sharing!

A Magical White On White Wedding At Grand Hyatt

Photo Stories by Integricity. www.theweddingnotebook.com

This wedding feels like the epitome of every girl’s dream, including the romantic backdrop and a stage filled with crystals and white flowers. We love how Alison literally just let her hair down and enjoyed herself the entire day. Thanks, Grace from Stories by Integricity, for this beautiful set.

Alison: “One of the most memorable moments was when my dad took my hand while I was getting out of the bridal car, and walked me down the aisle. The part where Daniel and I exchanged our vows, and how he surprised me with a song completely caught me off guard. I was also touched that his harmony vocalists comprised my brother, brother-in-law, cousin and uncle, and the fact that they all managed to keep their performance a secret till that night.

“I was going for a modern romantic themed wedding comprising glitter, crystals, candles and soft colours. Grand Hyatt suited it perfectly. I fell in love at first sight of its unique crystal chandeliers that blanketed its entire ballroom ceiling. I also loved how they did away with the conventional chairs, and had squarish modern chairs for guests. The hotel’s style was modern the way I liked it, and had a beautiful personality of its own. As for the church ceremony, soft colours and candles were also chosen as part of the theme.”

Glamorous Outdoor Wedding At Cove 55

Photo Hollywood Bridal, Kuching. www.theweddingnotebook.com

This venue is impeccable – a garden, a poolside setting and a beachfront wedding all in one space. We adore the all white décor with a hint of colour here and there, just enough to add some texture while keeping it glamorous. Due to the unpredictable weather in our country, the bride opted for a transparent marquee tent, and was rewarded with blue skies and a beautiful view. Thanks for the photos, Hollywood Bridal, and thank you, Vanessa, for showing us that a wedding doesn’t need to be perfect as long as everybody has a great night.

Vanessa: “It is going to be hard to forget this one. You always need a catwalk moment down the aisle, and I succeeded in that by ‘fashionably’ tripping and picking myself up with whatever grace I had left (if any). Mind you, nerves and heels did not help!

“Though we did not plan a first dance, our bridal party surprised us with a rendition of ‘Thriller’, whereby the groom broke into his infamous MJ moves – always a classic.

“We were not really into themes, and too many ideas came at once, so it started off looking like a mess. We eventually narrowed it down to a midsummer’s day and night dream and the groom’s intense love for grey – the combination of both went perfectly well with our own little Hamptons of Kuching, Cove 55.

“The big highlight was making and covering all our walls with huge paper flowers, having a grey chevron aisle, and building a plank across the pool, in addition to making our custom-made wedding arch, which we adorned with hanging mason jars and blush pink flowers to give that midsummer beach feel.

“We had gold tree centrepieces and white orchids hanging down alongside crystals, and each table was named after a poet or author, along with an excerpt of one of their works. To top it off, a huge, clear tent just had to be part of our ceremony. There is nothing like having the clear, blue sky greeting our guests and us during the day, and the stars twinkling down on us at night, forming the perfect backdrop from above!

“Coincidentally, our wedding invites that we had designed also perfectly matched our bridesmaids’ dresses, for which I had purchased the material in Bangkok and had them made in Kuching. Every moment of our big day was memorable – including seeing scraps of ideas and countless mood boards finally being put together after eight months of frenzy and worry that nothing would look right! It couldn’t have been any more perfect, and the weather was an added bonus and blessing.

“A separate area, for the tea ceremony, was adorned with red accented tiffany chairs and brightly coloured parasols hanging from the beams to suit the mood, and lastly, a specially purchased tea set from Japan completed the intimate affair.”

Tips from the bride: “Eat before the day starts because you will not even have that on your mind till the next day! (I was also very blessed to have a crew of bridesmaids and bridesmen that were at my beck and call, laden with water, food and tissues.) So, be sure to also have a team of bridesmaids!

“A lot of our wedding ideas are from Pinterest and Instagram, but just keep an eye out for ideas as these things can pop out from anywhere. The inspiration behind our custom made altar grew from a luxury retail magazine that we were flipping through at a hotel in Bangkok, and then there was the Chanel Spring 2009 show that inspired our walls!”

The first time they went to Europe, this couple from Hong Kong fell in love with Spain, and joked that they would get married there. Two years later, they did just that.

Anastasia: “From our initial plan to have a simple and tiny two-person destination wedding to a dream wedding in Granada with more than 30 beloved family and friends, we’re just so joyful.

“We tried to keep everything as simple and easy as we could, but with personal touches and stories behind the details. To represent the stunning Alhambra Place and the nightlife in Spain, we used glittery rose gold and black, with a hint of pastel including warm grey, mint and blush to balance the mood.

Gatsby Inspired Theme At The Fullerton Bay Hotel

Samuel Goh Photography. www.theweddingnotebook.com

We are truly impressed by how MerryLove Weddings transformed this small space into a glamorous set, while keeping within the bride’s budget! Thanks, Samuel Goh, for capturing all this goodness.

June: “The fact that we both came from the same school meant that Ray and I have the same group of friends. Hence, our wedding was like a mini school party, minus the teachers! Our wedding day was even more meaningful because it was also our 4th anniversary of being together, and my birthday. We were truly blessed to have been able to celebrate such a special day with the people who matter most to us.

“Right from the start, I’ve always known that I wanted an intimate, cosy wedding rather than a traditional Chinese wedding. Both of us grew up in huge extended families that we are very close to, and it wasn’t easy to come to this decision. We were extremely blessed that both sets of our parents agreed to have a small, intimate wedding, and let us plan our wedding the way we both wanted it to be.

Old World Vintage Charm

Tealily Photography. www.theweddingnotebook.com

We love everything about this wedding! It is simple yet effortlessly glamorous. The beautiful custom bridal gown with its hand cut French Chantilly lace bodice fit the bride perfectly, and was matched by the bridesmaids’ custom made charcoal grey silk chiffon dresses. Both the ceremony and reception venues were gorgeous. The green and gold dessert table was beautiful, and the night reception made us believe once again that ballroom weddings can be gorgeous. In fact, it made us fall in love again with pillared ballrooms. Thanks, Tealily, for always making things look so amazing.

Mona: “Being able to design, plan and execute my wedding was really special for me. I was involved in every detail, including designing the engagement ring, putting the finishing touches on all the gowns, creating the wedding stationery, the cake design and supplying reception decorations right down to making the bridal party flowers.”

A Glamorous Outdoor Wedding At Villa Tamarama Uluwatu

Melissa has a very big family, and in order to keep their wedding small and personal, she and Michael decided to have it in Bali. They both love Southeast Asia, the sun, the culture and the beautiful landscape of Bali so it was the perfect choice. Thanks, Terralogical, for always sharing with us these beautiful destination weddings in Bali.

Melissa: “My favourite part of my dress was the belt, which was actually handmade. The roses were attached to a metal belt and the entire piece was gold plated, then a talented dressmaker attached a bow with ties to the back so it could all come together. I absolutely loved it; it was my own unique piece that made my outfit different from others.

“My wedding planner, Global Weddings, arranged the entire ceremony and dinner reception, including my guests’ travel arrangements and accommodation, which made everything easy. I only had to do a few minor things that the planner was unable to source locally, and I brought over to Bali a few items to add my own touch, such as the celebrity masks, banners, props, original retro Polaroid camera and everything else for the photobooth. I also brought over the white lace fans for the ladies, as I wasn’t happy with the fans that were available locally.

“Throughout the planning process, I knew exactly what I wanted to achieve for our wedding, and Global Weddings was able to make this a reality for us. Villa Tamarama, which is part of the Semara Luxury Resort, was just breathtaking from the moment we walked through its doors. Our mouths dropped open in amazement and we were in complete awe of the surroundings. It was truly the most stunning property we had ever seen. Our guests were just as blown away and still say that it’s the most beautiful wedding they have ever been to, which is a big compliment to us. We knew we had chosen a really special place when Australian celebrity Jennifer Hawkins got married in the exact same villa as us only four days later.”

Laura: “We had almost 20 of our closest friends and family come all the way from New Zealand to join us at our reception so it was really special and meaningful to have them there. We created a trivia competition to see which table knew us the best; in the end there was a tie and three of our guests were called up to see who could do the best Gangnam Style – it was hilarious!

“I wanted to create a simple but sophisticated and elegant atmosphere so I based the theme on one of my favourite colour combinations: gold and ivory. This colour theme was supported by my favourite flowers – phalaenopsis orchids and hydrangeas – as well as gold tiffany chairs. A touch of New Zealand was also incorporated with special DIY mini NZ artisan honey pots that were hand-carried all the way from New Zealand.”

Tips from the bride: “Keep reminding yourself of why you are getting married and whom you are marrying because these are the most important facts of all. A wedding is a celebration of the bride and groom coming together as one. It’s not a show to put on for your guests so don’t stress over unnecessary details and worry about whether everything will be perfect. Some things, unfortunately, are out of our control.

“Don’t worry if you don’t have the ‘traditional’ wedding details like even a dance, a cake or a bridal party. The wedding will be more special if you make it your own and make it an extension of your personalities. Remember, your guests are there because they love you both for who you are. So enjoy! Because it will be a day that is literally once in a lifetime!”

Looking Glamorous Outdoor

Photography by MangoRed. www.theweddingnotebook.com

We all love outdoor garden weddings but what if you want something glamorous too? Here, we present to you a garden wedding that was also totally glamorous. Thanks to MangoRed, we get to share a snippet from the wedding of Filipino actor-model Marco Alcaraz and former beauty queen and Miss International 2005 Precious Lara Quigaman.

The bride, in a gorgeous blush pink gown by Veejay Floresca, walked down the aisle to the tune of ‘Bless The Broken Road’ sung by her sister and matron-of-honour Jerica Quigaman. We love the platform built on top of the pool and how the whole reception was beautifully decorated with floral table centerpieces to give it a vintage and rustic look.

Locally grown flowers blended beautifully with imported ones such as pink Veronicas, lilac campanulas, stachy, amaranthus, brunia, leucadendron, hypercum berries, wax flowers and pink hydrangeas. Accent flowers such as bells of Ireland and eucalyptus completed the wedding reception look.

Enchanted Wedding At CHIJMES

Not only was 21.12.12 not the end of the world, for Felicia and Steven, it marked the beginning of a new journey together.

If you remember, we previously featured their breathtaking bridal portraits, also by Kennfoo Weddings, that were taken in Italy, so it was no surprise that they chose another historical building, CHIJMES, which was previously a Catholic convent, in which to wed. One of Singapore’s most elaborate places of worship ever built, the CHIJMES hall has an arched ceiling and stained glass windows.

Kennfoo: “We met Felicia and Steven a year ago when they wanted to do their bridal portraits in Europe, a place filled with amazing architecture, which the couple loves very much. After much planning, we finally flew to Italy to get their pre-wedding session done. It was truly an unforgettable trip for us in our career as we got to know not just a great couple but also awesome friends!

“Both their solemnisation and dinner reception were held at the CHIJMES Hall in Singapore, which is one of the most beautiful halls we’d ever photographed to date. It was quite tiring for us as we had to fly back to Penang the night itself to work on another photo engagement the next day, but overall, we really enjoyed our time capturing Felicia and Steven’s moments, and it was an honour to be a part of their biggest celebration in life.”
