Just Strolling Through Shanghai With an Adorable Alpaca

Photo by Andrew Yep Photographie. www.theweddingnotebook.com

Living and working in a hip city like Shanghai with your fiancé is a special experience. You have a bank of memories from building this chapter of your lives together, away from all that is familiar, and you want to remember how you’ve made this place home. Shanghai, with its iconic streets, memorable frames of skyscrapers, and eclectic mix of Chinese-European residences, all make for a meaningful engagement album that encapsulates this Malaysian couple’s life in this season.

We love their carefree spirit in these images, and check out that adorable alpaca curiously eyeing its surroundings. It’s an unusual addition to an engagement album but it’s so docile, you can’t help but be charmed by it. To capture a sense of the local fashion, the couple wear Fei Yue, a well-known sneaker brand produced in that very city. Thank you for sharing these brilliant shots, Andrew Yep Photographie!

“We got in the night before and discussed our shoot options. We decided on some of their favourite locations and other interesting ones in Shanghai,” says Andrew Yep Photographie, adding that many of the shots were spontaneous. “The alpaca was a joy to work with after we got over our initial apprehension. It drew plenty of attention and there were times when a crowd had gathered and we had to ask them for space to shoot. But the alpaca never once misbehaved.”

A Dreamy Bohemian Garden Wedding at Alila Villas Uluwatu

So much of this wedding was infused with the newlyweds’ own style and quirky personality. Against a colour palette of whites and nudes, other elements such as the golden plates, decorative branches and geometric vases added a dramatic flair. We love the bride’s beautiful lace bridal grown, paired with a bold vampy lip, and the groom’s unusual beige double-breasted suit!

Complementing the couple were the bridal party’s coordinating outfits – blouse and skirt combos for the pretty bridesmaids and dark suits for the dapper groomsmen. Alila Villas Uluwatu in Bali is known for its serene location overlooking the ocean, and indeed it is a picture perfect place to tie the knot. Thanks to DiktatPhotography for capturing this special day.

A Classic, Dreamy Vineyard Wedding in Romantic Tuscany

Oh, this wedding is truly a dream – summer in Italy is right out of a movie set, with the rolling hills, fresh produce, and the peaceful Italian countryside. The bride looked like the lead in a fairytale – from her beautiful gown made out of delicate lace to her dramatic veil and regal hairpiece. With everything kept simple and using nature as the perfect backdrop, the couple added subtle yet detailed decorations to turn the space into a magical soiree. From Traditional to Contemporary in Iconic Japan

This pre-wedding album has it all – romance, flair and characteristics of the gorgeous couple’s unique relationship – all shot in the prolific landscape of Japan. Dressed traditionally in sky blue kimonos and with a matching parasol, the couple took to the streets, bazaar and shrine for an enjoyable morning stroll before later changing into their gown and suit, and finally, their casual wear.

The photographer’s artistry here is tangible. The vivid colours around them stand out in sharp contrast, breathing life into these precious moments as if a tribute to the love story of the couple’s youth before their next season as man and wife. Thank you for these brilliant captures, Terralogical!

An All-White Intimate Cave Wedding in Bali

This wedding is amazing on so many levels. A destination wedding in Bali is not unheard of, but with only eight guests? And in a cave? This is surreal and just so beautiful! Everything was kept super simple and the focus was just on the newlyweds – nothing else but their love for each other was celebrated on their special day. These wonderfully intimate photos encapsulated the day perfectly, thank you to Terralogical for sharing!

Engagement Shoot at the World’s Largest Salt Flat in Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia

Photography by Metrophoto. Destination bridal portraits in Bolivia. www.theweddingnotebook.com

There are two crucial life lessons to glean from this arresting engagement album: perseverance and making time count. Just as these values will apply to their union as man and wife, this couple experience it first-hand in a challenging but rewarding 2-part engagement portrait series shot amidst extraordinary landscapes in Peru and Bolivia.

They engaged Manila-based Oly Ruiz of Metrophoto, whose vast experience with destination photography would be imperative to the success of the task. Together, they planned for a 3-day shoot in spectacular locations like Salar de Uyuni, the world’s largest salt flat (a lake gone dry), and Laguna Hedionda, a saline lake in the Andean Altiplano that is notable for having pink and white flamingos.

What an outstanding job by Oly Ruiz of Metrophoto! These shots are the second part in a bridal portraits series taken across Bolivia, so head on over to check out Part 1, which was shot in Peru. Thanks for these amazing photos, Metrophoto!

Vintage Flavoured Engagement Shoot in Cameron Highlands

Photo by Hellow Jane Lee. www.theweddingnotebook.com

Very often, we come across a set of images that leave us mesmerised by their raw beauty and the sheer simplicity of the intent behind it. This album is one of them. We love the way her crimson gown infuses life into the indoor and outdoor settings, and the couple’s enjoyment of the rolling hills of Cameron Highlands, Pahang. We love the little vintage shop sporting all things antique and classically Malaysian. Tastefully set up and shot, they are a superb addition to the photos.

We smile at the couple’s beautiful cross-cultural relationship, and the way the energy and characteristics of their individual cultures come together in tender moments like these. We know these photos will be gentle yet firm reminders of their beautiful love story in the decades to come, as they transition into coming seasons together. Thanks for this amazing album, hellojanelee!

Tropical Paradise Wedding at Ma-Ni Thai Cuisine in Tanjong Malim

Photo by Jessiel Yee Photography. www.theweddingnotebook.com

Dig a little deeper and you will find that there are many hidden wedding venue gems within the Klang Valley. We were absolutely delighted with this tropical paradise wedding at Ma-Ni Thai Cuisine in Tanjong Malim, Hulu Langat, and impressed with this couple’s creative touches that sought to bring family and friends together for a memorable evening without overstretching their budget.

The venue’s towering palm trees and luscious foliage set the perfect stage for the fun and romantic evening they had in mind. The sounds of camaraderie filled the air as guests showed up colourful outfits, adding visual and audible life to the occasion. Thank you, Jessielyee Photography, for this amazing album!

“We chose the venue before deciding on the theme,” shared the bride. “From there, we knew what theme would be suitable, and we ran navy blue and orange through it. We also chose just one flower, the Bird of Paradise, so as not to have too many species crowd our theme.

“We presented guests with cute little tropical fruit-scented soaps as wedding favours. To personalise the gifts further, each guest was provided with a booklet of our love story and programme for the night. We are very grateful to have had a group of friends to help us with the whole planning and coordination of the wedding. Most things were prepared DIY with the help of friends, from flower arrangements to the desserts. We are also very thankful that the owner of the restaurant (who became our friend after this) personally ensured that everything went well. We served a scrumptious Thai meal to all our guests and they enjoyed it.”

Tips from the bride: “I think the best tip is to always remember that as much as we would like to make our dream wedding a reality, it is more important to focus on the marriage. Wedding is only a oneday event but marriage is a lifelong journey. Plan your wedding according to your means and budget, do not splurge on unnecessary things just to make it ‘instagrammable’. You can still do that but do it in a creative way; it’s quite fun to challenge yourself to find other ways to make things nice and see how things work out in the end. I think one of the most important things is to choose a good photographer and videographer who can capture all those magical moments in the wedding so you can look back on it with your husband when you are 90 and relive those moments together.

“I also think the quality of the food is very important, especially when your wedding requires travelling out of the city. We respected our family and friends’ time and we knew it would be great to end the night with a scrumptious meal as a treat to thank everyone for being a part of our big day.”
