Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPac) is the centre of performing arts in Malaysia, a place where people can truly express themselves through theatre, music and dance. Cherrie, who works in a bank, and William, who is from the IT industry, chose to show their love for each other in the gardens of KLPac. Everything looks like such fun – a true reflection of this couple. We especially like the photobooth’s big heart-shaped backdrop.

Family Affairs

Nicholas Leong Photography. Malayalee Wedding Ceremony

Traditional Indian weddings are always rich in detail, colour and culture. We can’t help but love the vibrant emotions in these big family affairs that include everyone!

Dhanya: “For the wedding ceremony, we went for something classic, traditional and elegant, our primary colours being white and gold with accents of maroon and deep purple. It was a Malayalee wedding ceremony, and although we kept the traditional elements, there were many contemporary features present as well.

“One of the most memorable moments for us was seeing each other for the first time at the altar. Another was when we finally tied the knot after nine long years of dating!

“For the wedding dinner, we wanted a romantic and intimate vibe. We chose the venue as it perfectly fit the ambience that we were looking for. One of the unique things at the dinner was a candy buffet. The guests, young and old, thoroughly enjoyed it!

“The favours were DIY small, square, deep purple boxes topped with a customised tag. In each favour box was a Ferrero Rocher chocolate.

“We also had a DIY photobooth which was a treat too. Not to mention the groom himself was the DJ for the night.”

Tips for brides-to-be: “Do not stress (easier said than done, I know). But once it’s all over, you’ll realise how silly it was to have been petty, and fussed over the smallest things. On that day, the truth is, no one realises if the flowers were the exact shade you picked out or not. So PLAN, DELEGATE and LET GO. Do not micromanage!”

The Art Of Being In Vienna

Vienna is such a beautiful place, and we love that the photographer just allowed the couple to stroll around and enjoy the moments. The thing about photography, more than a stunning backdrop and a gorgeous couple – nothing is more satisfying than seeing beautiful moments of intimacy captured.

One Voice

This is an amazing idea that’s never crossed our minds before. Put together by Crazy Monkey Studio, the video shows how profound it can be when the wedding vows are edited together instead of being shown separately. For the very first time, we felt two people putting aside their differences and coming together as one voice.

This wedding truly is a celebration of friends and loved ones. From the wedding planning by good friend Theodora Soh to the invitations and stationery, from the flowers and décor to the cakes and desserts, everything was put together by friends of the bridal couple. How very blessed they are to have been showered with so much help from family and friends.

Besides the beautiful details, we also love the people and the emotions that were captured. You can almost hear the music, the tears and the laughter. And looking at all the photos and watching the video, you realise that is exactly what it was like.

Charlene: “Standing outside the church was a big moment for me as this was the church that I grew up in. The design of the dress had also been kept a secret from the groom until the moment the church doors opened. It was definitely a moment of great anticipation.

“We had over 60 guests, including those who had flown in from Australia, America, Hong Kong and the Philippines, and it was just great knowing that our loved ones had made such an effort to share our special day with us. Since ours had been a long distance relationship, our wedding was another step for us to be together, and finally being in the same country at the same time.

“We had a travel and nature theme, which was very apt for us. Jason lived in Sydney while I lived in Dubai. I was a flight attendant and so I traveled a lot. Jason would fly around and meet me in the cities where I had stopovers, meeting me whenever and wherever he could, and we also travelled together frequently.

“Our save-the-dates for the wedding were flight boarding passes, wedding invitations were paper planes, and favours were luggage tags that our guests can actually use. We are also very earthy and green people, and that’s why we chose the colour green for our theme.

“We wanted a cosy and intimate reception, and we fell in love with the high ceilings and organic theme of the restaurant, as well as its lighting.”

Bridal tip: “Plan ahead and don’t stress. Enjoy the day, and let your hair down and party!”

Love

This set of photos seems to have been very carefully planned and put together. Jean’s lovely lace dress looks simple and sweet, just right for props like these. The Coke bottles and red apples have nothing to do with each other but somehow, the red branding of Coke brings everything together. Enjoy!

Breakfast At The Park

www.theweddingnotebook. Photography by ZA Gallery. The wedding party

The thing about weddings, as much as most people want to be different, they often find themselves falling into the trap of mediocrity. This site is not about imitation, or worse, intimidation and making you think there’s a benchmark for what your wedding should be like. Rather, it’s about inspiring you to be who you are and celebrating that, as well as reminding you of the things you love and that purity of love you had as a child.

Euodia and Nic are a couple that embodies that. According to Chinese tradition, it should have been a gatecrashing ceremony. We have nothing against that – it can be fun and has its significance – but we’re excited that they decided to have a great time at the park together instead.

One of the most important moments was the exchanging of marriage vows, knowing that I will be spending my entire life with the most amazing man.”

Euodia: “I’ve always dreamed of having an outdoor ceremony, but due to the weather here, we opted for a breakfast picnic to fulfil that dream. In retrospect, it was one of the wisest decisions we made.

“Our evening ceremony and reception leaned towards the elegant, classic and formal, so we wanted something fun, bright and colourful for the morning, with lots of patterns and textures. We loved this “out of the norm” way of celebrating our friendship before we walked down the aisle.

“I did the flowers and décor myself with the help of my bridesmaid Melissa Leong – even the boys’ bow ties were handmade – and one of my church members, Michelle Ng, put this beautiful breakfast table together.”

Bridal tips: “Always stay focused. Do your research but don’t be distracted by too many ideas, as all weddings are beautiful and unique in their own way. Always be sure of what you and your partner want, and stick to that. Grow on that. Lavish on that. Also do lots of sourcing to get the best bargains in town so you can pull off a beautiful wedding within your budget.”

Journey To Italy

Photography by Kennfoo Weddings. Bridal portraits in Italy - Rome, Florence, Siena

It feels like we’re as close to the Colosseum as they are, strolling past Florence Cathedral with them, and getting lost in the beautiful medieval town of Siena like they did. With bridal portraits like these, you won’t hear your guests complaining when you play your photos on loop. Kenn Foo really did do this lovely couple and the magnificent architecture justice.

Kenn: “Rome, the City of Gods, the city where once the infamous Roman army ruled. Steven and Felicia are huge fans of architecture and great monuments, and Rome was the perfect location for them to have their bridal portraits done. The city is filled with grand and breathtaking architecture. They are all around you, and spectacular views are a norm. Steven and Felicia were also blessed with good weather throughout the photoshoot.

“We had a hectic and tiring three-day photoshoot in three cities – Rome, Florence and Siena – but we enjoyed it very much, and had so much fun as Steven and Felicia are such an easygoing couple! They were willing to try anything and everything, from the fun to the really dangerous!”

On the other hand, we were trying to figure out how Jessen from JXS Wedding Cinematography managed to capture the video from some of these angles, and lo and behold, we found out that they’d actually used a ‘helicam’. Believe us when we say we have never been so enthusiastic about saying something is a must-see.

The Unconventional

Photography by 3PM Studio. www.theweddingnotebook.com

Thanks to their unique ROM celebration and creative chalkboard bridal portraits, we were so excited to see what Regine and Joey would do on their wedding day. Once again, we were blown away. Check out how the bride creatively reused items from her garden ceremony for her reception later in the evening.

Regine: “Being unconventional adults, we wanted a wedding that somewhat reflects us. But just like any other bride, I didn’t know where to begin. Excited as I was, I just had too many ideas and things I wanted to do for our wedding. That’s when I fell in love with Pinterest. I started pinning all sorts of interesting things that I wanted to do.

“We wanted something outdoors. But knowing our weather, Joey wasn’t so keen on having our wedding dinner outside. So we agreed on an outdoor ceremony followed by a dinner indoors. We ended up at Hotel Equatorial, Bangi. It has a beautiful garden, and also a big ballroom.

“My greatest concern was the décor. I wanted it to be light-hearted, uplifting, and most importantly, I wanted it to be US (whatever that meant)! Hubby came up with the colour scheme, and showed it to me. My immediate reaction was, ‘Perfect!’

“So that’s how it all started to fall into place, from the main backdrop streamers and aisle stands to the hand-fans that doubled up as lyrics for praise and worship during the ceremony. Then I added other details like the little hearts down the aisle, and the colourful paper roses that hung from above. It was all streamlined with the help of Pinterest – we picked out things that could be done within our theme.

“My favourite highlight from the garden ceremony was my bridesmaids’ ‘note boards’. I didn’t want my girls to just walk down the aisle holding a bouquet of flowers; I wanted them to be part of the ceremony. We had chalkboards and the girls each wrote their ‘note’ to the groom on them. It was like their final warning to him!

“A good friend, fashion designer Micky Tan, custom-made my three dresses. We conceptualised the dresses and even went shopping for the materials together. What a lovely job she did!

“For my ballroom decorations and photo-booth, I literally reused everything we had at the garden ceremony to save on my budget. Instead of a candy buffet, we had big bowls of childhood snacks as centerpieces on each table.

“It’s never just one item that makes a wedding memorable; I believe it’s all the elements combined. The venue, theme, design, decorations, videos, entertainment, and of course, our guests, and we are happy to say we had the entire package!

Tips from the bride: “DIY projects are more difficult to do when you start multiplying by the number of tables. Engage decorators so that you don’t have to worry about execution and setting up on the day. Attending to the guests as bride and groom is already extremely tiring and overwhelming enough.”

Original Old Town Coffee

Bridal portraits in Ipoh. Photography by ZA Gallery

She may not have been there for his childhood years, which were some of the most precious of his life, but by taking these photos, we feel as if it’s a way for him to embed her into those beautiful memories, making them even better.
