We’re totally sold by these pretty albums, and even though it’s not always the case, it’s also not entirely shallow to think that good products always come with great packaging. These albums all contain three elements: 1) Personalised, handmade details; 2) The photographers use only the best quality materials; 3) Beautiful layouts (only possible when the client doesn’t insist on including too many photos). Read on to find out what you can learn from some of our favourite photographers’ album packaging. We find it hard to believe that photographers who put so much effort into their albums won’t do the same for your shoot.
#01 James Simmons Photography, Perth
That matchbox USB holder and an album handmade with recycled paper and printed on fine art rag matt paper tell us that this is a photographer who will not miss the little details.
#02 Sayher Heffernan Photography, Melbourne
His photos that never fail to capture our hearts are made complete by his beautiful album layouts. What an amazing ability to frame images both through his camera lens and through his layouts! A wonderful photographer we’d love to meet someday.
#03 Brian Ho of thegaleria, Singapore
With photographers shifting to USB drives, Brian still likes the old-school DVD, which possibly explains why he also does film photography. Looking at his albums that are carefully printed on Hahnemühle fine art paper and handmade with quality materials by himself, you know instantly that this is a man who takes pride in his work. We have an exclusive interview with him in our magazine – read it to find out more.
#04 Axioo, Jakarta and Bali
If you know how much bespoke albums, with all those special folds and die-cut details, cost, you’ll know it will cost you a fortune to make and print your own album of this quality. These are carefully thought through, designed and conceptualised for you, so really, there’s no better time to do it.
#05 History Studio, Hong Kong
They were one of the early adapters who started giving their clients wood-carved USB drives. Coupled with their great album layout designs, you know these guys are quick to learn and have a great eye for photos.
#06 Iwen Exposures, Omaha
If he already puts so much effort into shooting his album design, you know he’ll do even more for your photoshoot. We love this!
#07 Multifolds Photography, Singapore
Simplicity has its beauty; we love the box packaging and carefully engraved names. And he’s a nice guy too! If you follow him on social media, you’ll know his life is an open book. A real fun photographer who will make you feel comfortable in front of the camera.
#08 Adam Nash Photography, San Juan Islands
The fact that he lives on a sailboat makes him pretty kickass. Love the printed out photos that come with the box. This is a guy who knows it is those special moments that count.
#09 Blue Rose Pictures, Seattle
Her continuous search for quality albums for her clients is a sign of her never-ending dedication to giving her clients the best. Her gentle touch serves her well, even in photoshoots.
#10 Hunter Photographic, Cleveland
Truly made to perfection, you know you have a pretty awesome album when it even comes with a note. This is surely someone who has a deep appreciation for quality and beauty.
