Set in the middle of a misty, dreamy forest and with a striking injection of colour, this wedding perfectly encapsulated the bride and groom’s personality. Thanks to their love for colour and pompoms, the Pine Hill in Bandung was transformed into a fun, bright festival in celebration of this joyous occasion.

Some things were kept simple, such as the bridesmaids’ dresses, which were in silver grey. But we were absolutely blown away by the bride’s reception gown, with its full orange skirt that perfectly complemented the many textures and colours of this soiree. An additional decorative note that we loved – the giant dream catcher set in the middle of their wedding arch. What a perfect design choice! Many thanks to Fire, Wood & Earth for this amazing set of photos, and to Bozza Event Organizer for bringing such a crazy concept to life.

Isabel: “The weather was a real concern for us. It started to drizzle a bit, and then it started to pour and we had to move our gatecrashing games indoors (thank goodness for the cabin!). We had to prolong the games for the groom and his groomsmen, hoping the rain would stop. When it eventually stopped, a mist started to form and it became a misty forest wedding! It couldn’t have been more perfect.

“We wanted a destination wedding. Our criteria were that the venue should be at high elevation (up in the hills) and have cool weather. We thought Pine Hill was perfect; it was on a hill and had the perfect forest setting. Our theme was boho chic inspired by Wes Anderson. We love his movies and ‘The Darjeeling Limited’ inspired us to go to India, and that’s where Meng Tat proposed. I love all things colourful and pompoms so I told Irene from Pepper Suite to just go crazy with the colours and have quirky pieces to fit the theme.

“Our wedding rings were wooden rings by Udomsukmade. We were looking for wooden rings because we didn’t like the conventional types and it was hard to find such rings in Malaysia. Then I met Tus from Udomsukamde at a pop up bazaar and really liked his stuff. We flew to Bangkok to his studio and had our rings custom made, settling for a 3-layer wooden ring consisting of Siamese rosewood, maple and paduak.”
