How delightful is this splendid old-world Chinese theme! The groom is Chinese-Caucasian while the bride is English. Their concept was ‘Chan Kah Chuen’, translated as the Chan Clan Village. The idea was that the groom, who is of Malaysian Chinese and English heritage, would get to highlight both English and Chinese culture at the celebration, which was gloriously set up at the Ti Chen at The Saujana Hotel Kuala Lumpur by Dayco. Thank you for these brilliant pics, Arch & Vow Studio.

The bride shared: “It was amazing walking down the aisle and seeing him smiling at me in his dragon jacket, seeing the Chan family village for the first time, and having that lovely tea ceremony with all our family together. To top it off, there was that wonderful and unexpected lion dance!”

A small replica of a village, complete with food stores, a fortuneteller and a calligrapher, was further complemented by wedding favours consisting of traditional Chinese gifts – men’s combs and scented powder for the gentlemen, and personal items for the ladies. Lovingly orchestrated by the groom’s mother, this wedding was made possible by her understanding of her Chinese heritage, and it certainly allowed the English side of the family to experience some meaningful Chinese traditions.

Tips from the bride: “Wear comfy shoes so that you may feel like a princess. Surround yourself with people you love and who love you – and enjoy every moment!”
