We couldn’t wait to share this story with you. First off, Esther and Kennard make such a beautiful couple. Then of course we are still awestruck and amazed at how they planned the entire wedding without a wedding planner all the way from London. Thanks, Terralogical, for sharing these beautiful photos with us.

Esther: “I have always wanted a laid-back and intimate destination wedding, an event that is more of a collective vacation where our closest family and friends can sit back, relax and have a great time. And I can’t tell you what a perfect decision that was. Both of us live in London and most of our family and friends were based in Malaysia, the UK and US. Bali has always been on my ‘to do’ list so we settled on that beautiful island.

“Being from a fashion background myself and Ken from actuarial, we were both extremely picky in terms of location, decoration details, dresses, food, photography, videography, and most importantly, our budget. With all these in mind, we decided to plan the wedding all by ourselves from the UK. We obviously had a bit of a challenge pulling it off from halfway across the world without a wedding planner. It took a lot of courage, patience, time and perseverance to do this all on our own. Nevertheless, everything turned out perfect!

“The venue was more beautiful than we could have imagined; it was a dream come true. We recited our vows during sunset at the beautiful Infinity Chapel overlooking the Indian Ocean and had our reception at Metis restaurant overlooking the lotus and rice fields. Every single moment of my wedding was memorable, from the moment I walked down the aisle with my dad to reciting our vows to our first dance.

“Our inspiration was classic and romantic yet simple with a touch of elegance, something that suited both our tastes and personalities. We incorporated a lot of DIY and the utmost attention to detail in our wedding decorations. Both Ken and I designed and printed our wedding invites and programmes together. I must say it was definitely the most time-consuming part of our wedding planning; we wanted them to be clean, modern and personal. We also put our own creative flair on all the décor, including hanging fairy lights as our reception backdrop.

“My mother handmade my dream veil just by looking at pictures of my dress, and it suited my dress perfectly. My cousin hand-carried my peony bouquet from Kuala Lumpur. The tables were decorated with romantic candles and flowers – blush pink, white and ivory roses, baby’s breath, spray roses, lisianthus, carnations and snap dragon in a mixture of bottles and jars. Our wedding was indeed magical. Our photographers and videographers did such an impeccable job capturing the beauty and feel of the event. We were so blessed with amazing vendors and most importantly having the people that are close to our hearts by our side on this special occasion. We couldn’t have asked for more. It was truly a dream wedding.”

Tips from the bride: “If you are planning a destination wedding it is extremely important to do your research. View vendors’ portfolios online, check references and reviews. It’s necessary to have credible vendors that you are comfortable with. Communication with your vendors is important, whether it is through emails or video calls. You need to make sure they clearly understand your vision. Planning this wedding has been, without a doubt, the best experience my husband and I have had since getting engaged. Although the road hasn’t always been easy, the tough parts can’t compare to the joy of celebrating our wedding in Bali. All I can say is it was completely worth it.”

Esther has one of the most beautiful voices ever. It makes us want to watch the whole video and of course, kudos to Bali Metro DigiArt for making the video so seamless.
