Gown And Saddle

Photography by Gallerie CK. www.theweddingnotebook.com

Paul Kong of Gallerie CK recently photographed a couple at Bukit Timah Saddle Club. It is a beautiful place, and it’s nice to be quiet and get away from city life for a while. We cannot fathom how they got the horse to cooperate, but the shoot looks great.

A Stunning Wedding At Andara Resort & Villas, Phuket

Aidan Dockery Wedding Photography. www.thewedddingnotebook.com

Imagine having a wedding on a gentle hill rising from the Andaman Sea, along the upscale west coast of Phuket. The ocean views from Andara are stunning, as are the lovely bridesmaids in their pastel yellow dresses on the floating stage adorned with petals and flowers. We are truly impressed by how Aidan managed to give us such a beautiful overview of the whole wedding from all angles. The photos make us want to tie the knot there, or perhaps go there for a little honeymoon.

In This Beautiful Town Called Imerovigli

Photography by Metrophoto. www.theweddingnotebook.com

Imerovigli is a small resort town perched on a cliff, a short bus ride away from Fira, Greece. Situated on the island of Santorini’s highest point, it is thus called the ‘Balcony to the Aegean’. It is not as densely populated or as popular as the other towns, Oia and Fira, but its charm and vantage point make it awe-inspiringly beautiful especially for weddings.

You can tell from the photos that this is not your regular bride. She had her hair dyed red prior to the wedding, and for this post-wedding shoot, her simple white dress and pastel pink shoes rock our world. Thanks to Metrophoto for giving us a glimpse of this breathtaking town.

Ingredients Of A Happy Marriage

The ingredients of a happy marriage: faith, love, laughter, and the sharing of each other’s dreams. Andri and Marcella know what they are talking about. This is a post-wedding shoot and we are really happy to see that after one year, they still look so in love with each other.

A successful marriage starts from the moment you leave the bed every morning. The extra time you have with each other instead of just grabbing your coffee and rushing out for work each day. We like the honesty of these photos; they make us burst out in laughter. Really adorable.

If you don’t already know, we don’t plan weddings. We love weddings and all things beautiful. Our desire is to see weddings in this region rise to greater heights. We understand that not everyone has the budget to splurge on their big day, but creativity bursts forth when your resources are limited. That is why many of our favourite weddings this year are DIY.

Chaiyen, one of our team, took the opportunity of her sister’s wedding to show us exactly how we can maneuver the budget and personalise a wedding with small details. These lovely photos are taken by WeiMin and Chris Teoh.

Chaileng: “I do have quite a huge Coke collection. When my sister told me that we should do a red and white Coke-themed wedding, I jumped onto the bandwagon and she handled it all from there. It was great because it took a big chunk off our shoulders while we focused on all the major decisions such as guest lists and cash flow.

“Instead of spending too much on flowers, we channelled that money to our candy bar and dessert table. It was equally pretty and made more sense to us because it was edible. My sister and I were in the States earlier this year and it was close to Valentine’s Day so there were loads of seasonal candies. We bought most of our stuff from Target and Party City. We were a little disappointed with the car plate that we’d bought online because it is not real metal but I guess it still looked good in photos.

“The wedding was a celebration of wonderful people who are a big part of our lives. It was beautiful to see laughter and tears shed during the ceremony. God’s love was indeed evident! We decided on the venue because it is really pretty on its own and we wouldn’t need to spend much on doing it up. They have an in-house caterer and the food was great. It fit our budget and theme perfectly.”

50’s Diner

Angelo Kangleon Photography

Don’t you just love those diners from the 50’s? Since both Rhia and Paul love the 50’s, this was the ideal venue for their photoshoot. Rhia’s red polka dot dress and hair were perfect. As she’s a baker, they also did another set of photos with a Hansel and Gretel theme. Angelo Kangleon Photography captured the best of both of them.

The Vibrant Streets of Manila

Mary and Lau flew over to Manila from Kota Kinabalu for a portrait session. There, they went to Intramuros for a casual shoot, with its colonial buildings, cobblestone streets and great colours. Instead of letting the busy and crowded street become an obstacle to the photoshoot, Julian of Wainwright Weddings used it to deliver some very outstanding and interesting shots.

Cast Away

This is an instance where you have to watch the video to really enjoy the set of photos. Something out of the ordinary, it’s inspired by the movie ‘Cast Away’, and we love the plot and how carefully they planned the camera angles and music. We’re especially impressed by how they captured their aerial shots too. Considering this couple aren’t actors, we’re in awe of the outcome. In fact, we’re tempted to ask about a sequel. The team should really explore making short films.

Nikko of Pixelfish Concept: “The concept was that the both of them had been stranded on the island. They built a shack and helped each other get through the days with the little they had left. One day, out of nowhere, a wave brought in a suitcase of nice, new clothing. So they decided to put aside all their worries about surviving and have a good night together.”

MunKeat of Frame[S]tudio. www.theweddingnotebook.com

This is the first set of bridal portraits and wedding we’ve received that were taken in Switzerland, and we are in love with the place and the photos taken by MunKeat. There’s a good reason why this couple flew the team halfway across the globe to Switzerland, but we’ll let the photos do the explaining.

Wild At Heart

Chris Ling International Photographers. www.theweddingnotebook.com

Catwoman might never meet Iron Man in the comic books but we can do anything we want in bridal portraits. Angela looks kind of wild (and hot!) in this set of photos. It is nice when couples choose to be themselves as it makes the photos a lot livelier. On another note, we would seriously like to visit Chris Ling’s studio one day. It looks amazing.

A Blissful Wedding At Paresa Resort, Phuket

Wedding at Paresa Resort, Phuket. Aidan Dockery Wedding Photography

Getting married at Paresa Phuket makes you feel like you are on top of the world, as it is perched high on the cliff side with a breathtaking panoramic view of the Andaman Sea. This is the perfect number of guests for a destination wedding. We like their reception on the platform next to the pool, under the open sky. It must have been quite an experience dining there during sunset, and with an unobstructed view of the fireworks at night.

Roaming Around Japan

Wedding photos in Shibuya, Tokyo. Photography by Studio Numb9r. www.theweddingnotebook.com

It is hard to not love Japan, so we can imagine why many dream to have their bridal portraits done there. Though it is a very busy city, the people and culture more than make up for it. Not everyone can afford a destination bridal portrait session, but photographers in recent years are starting to make it a little bit easier.

Marissa and Jay: “It was like a dream come true to have our bridal portraits taken in Tokyo. We never thought it would be possible until we found Jimmy of Studio Numb9r, who was planning a photography trip to Tokyo. We liked his photography style, so we decided in a very short time to join him.

“The most unforgettable shot was the one taken in Shibuya, at the world’s busiest junction. It was raining and the weather was cold, and we were standing right in the middle when the pedestrian lights turned green. Everyone was staring at us, and some even stopped to congratulate us. It was a bit embarrassing, but overall it was fun.

“Every part of Tokyo is unique, and even though it was very cold when we were there, we enjoyed ourselves very much. The most important thing was we had a very fun time.”
