Love Stories

Stop Motion Video: The Story

Funky Dali: “Childhood lovers? You could almost say that. They first met as innocent teenagers, and as the guy said, ‘It was almost love at first sight.’ But like a dramatic plotline, their relationship didn’t blossom until 12 years later. Trust us, the details are worthy of a soppy Korean drama.

“We wanted something really unusual for Niena and Afeef, so we decided to make a stop-motion video. After much planning, three and a half months of production, and thousands of edited pictures, the couple’s love story was finally shared with a thousand viewers on their wedding day in Perlis.”

A Snowy Day In Kyoto

© Eyeshot Studio Photography. Destination bridal portraits at Togetsukyo Bridge at Arashimaya, Kyoto

Kyoto is a very beautiful place, well known for its pristine natural beauty, and you will see many couples, even from other parts of Japan, flocking here to take photos. The local lovebirds often put on their traditional costumes and stroll the streets, whispering and giggling to each other, and you’ll also see couples cycling together or being ferried around by rickshaw.

Though it’s rather crowded during peak season, the overall vibe is still tranquil and peaceful. It’s definitely not hard to capture good photos here, but this snowy scene at Togetsukyo Bridge at Arashimaya, also known as “lovers’ bridge”, is totally the picture perfect moment.

Love You Bear-y Much!

One Eye Click: It’s not every day that you get to see a pair of life-sized bears on Orchard Road. But for Terence and Cindy, it was a once in a lifetime experience when they dressed up as their favourite bears and took to the busy streets. It was really fun photographing them in the unusual outfits and also observing how people reacted to them.

Rustic Minimalistic

Sometimes we feel that there is more to simple weddings. This wedding held at Stones of the Yarra Valley, an hour from Melbourne, is a wonderful example of that.

Jessica went for a very simple natural look, and instead of a bouquet or veil, she wore an ethereal floral headpiece for a rustic look. It is just so refreshing to see brides wearing their hair down once in a while. For her wedding gown, she chose a crinkled creation made from spotted tulle that was designed by Gwendolynne Burkin.

The décor featured amber beer bottles that the bridal couple had collected over time, hanging from the oak tree under which they were married. The rest of the bottles and glass jars were used to decorate the dining area.

The couple wanted to keep the colour tones natural so the florist used flowers like David Austin and iceberg roses, lisianthus, hydrangeas, snowberries and field daisies with sprigs of rosemary. Somehow, the interior of this venue reminds us a little of Tanahrimba Janda Baik, Pahang.

A Short Film About Love

We’re not sure about you, but personally we feel that movies based on true stories have always touched us more. We wouldn’t even call this a video; it’s a short film. This is a love story really worthy of sharing, not just something put together to amuse wedding guests. We’re so glad this couple did it. The filming of this video was very well planned and masterfully directed. It left us on the verge of tears, and assured us that there is no need to rush into a relationship. Someone up there has it all planned and his timing is always perfect.

To Prague With Love

Adam Ong Photography. Prague wedding photoshoot

Prague – one of the world’s most romantic cities. You will hardly come across a corner you do not want to photograph here. This place is a haven for bridal portraits, but never expect anything less than perfection from Adam Ong. We like how he included the locals in his photos. This is what we call capturing the moment.

Ban Eu: “We decided to do our bridal portraits in Prague because we wanted to choose a place that is different than the rest of the usual iconic places, and we’d heard that Prague is a beautiful city. They were right. It was like stepping into a fairytale land, a country that had stood the test of time, where history had been brought to life.”

This is the garden where it all begins. May Ling and Jin kept everything simple and sweet, but within that simplicity lay the love they have for their nearest and dearest, because most of the items here were DIY. It’s a sign of their love for their guests, but also an expression of the effort they will put into their marriage together. Have you noticed that this photographer, Funky Dali, is often hired to conceptualise not just the photos, but the wedding as well?

Funky Dali: “During our first meeting, the couple told us, ‘We would like you guys to be the planners for our wedding in Penang!’ Brimming with excitement, we quickly set up a second meeting to brainstorm and get things started. Both of them being game designers in Singapore, a rustic/8-bit games-themed wedding was something relevant to them.

“Most of the décor was handmade, such as the ring pillow, thank-you gifts, signs, etc. Even the moustache on the bridal car was hand sewn! We were secretly hoping to keep the moustache but the bride’s mum loved it so much, she wanted to hang it in her home. The couple even flew in DJ Smiles from the famed TheFlashDance in the US to entertain their guests!”

St. Patrick

Dramatic Elegance

We intentionally put these three posts of bridal portraits back-to-back to show that even though they were all taken in the same place – around Melbourne, Australia – they can be done in different styles, whether fun, romantic or dramatic. We wouldn’t say either one is better than the others; it really comes down to personal preference.

Here’s another set of photos from Melbourne, and as you can see, the possibilities are endless. This couple opted for a more elegant and dramatic direction for their photos. Kenn Foo used a good variety of lenses, which, together with the beautiful architecture and lighting, gave everything a more dramatic feel. Our favourites are the photos taken at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. It’s hard to believe this is Kenn’s first photoshoot in Melbourne…

Drawing Closer

Australia pre-wedding photos. One Eye Click

There are 7,083,185,962 people in the world at this moment, and we’ve always wondered how, out of the thousands and millions of people we meet, one ever stumbles across that one person they decide to cherish for the rest of their life. Often, we do not understand how two people who are minding their own business and living their own lives somehow meet. But that’s what Estella and Lewis did. Here are their bridal portraits taken in Melbourne and Victoria, Australia.

When Two Really Become One

Sayher Heffernan Photography

It was a gorgeous autumn wedding with wonderful weather and a picturesque location to match. Looking at the groom’s mum in a sari and the bride’s mum in a ‘ao dai’, you know this isn’t just about the coming together of two people, but a marriage of two great families.

Victoria and Jithma were married in a beautiful church in Middle Park, before heading to Melbourne’s CBD (Central Business District) to take their photos. Making their day even more memorable was an unexpected appearance by a Star Wars character.

Their reception for family and friends also took place in the city, at a restaurant called Comme, where there were plenty of laughs during the speeches and lots of traffic on the dance floor.

Victoria: “One of the most memorable aspects from my big day was being able to spend it with our closest family and friends. We survived the entire night and had drinks with our guests until 4am.

“We chose to have our wedding reception at Comme – a modern Melbourne bar and restaurant. It’s very understated in its décor, and has retained some of its heritage features.

“Our colour scheme came about by coincidence. It started with the bridemaids’ dresses, the invitations, bouquets, table arrangements, groomsmen’s shirts and ties… We wanted the invitations to be easy to read, so we decided on a typographical theme.”

A tip for brides-to-be: “Don’t be shy about asking your friends and family members for references or contacts. Most of the companies we used were based on recommendations from friends. Do choose things that represent you and your partner. And don’t forget that it’s his party too!”
