Trade an aisle for a bridge to get onto a yacht and a yacht instead of a church, and you’ve got a unique venue for tying the knot! We love how this couple embraced the unconventional and held their ceremony on a yacht, before setting sail to have an onboard barbecue as their reception. Keeping things modern and their colour palette simple with shades of purple, they made sure everyone had a blast. Many thanks to Dennis Yap Photography* for capturing this wonderful set of photos.
Sherine: “The most memorable moment of our big day was when the yacht set sail after we were pronounced husband and wife. The soft breeze and therapeutic ocean sounds took us back to the moments that morning. It was then that we looked at each other and realised we were sailing out towards the next chapter of our lives together.
“We stumbled upon the idea of hosting a yacht wedding by accident. We were surveying some hotel for a garden wedding and coincidentally there was a yacht exhibition next door. Naturally we took a stroll along the deck to have a look at the yachts and had the idea of having a yacht wedding. Our guests were our closest family and friends who were flying in from overseas so we wanted to do something unique for them – a yacht wedding was the perfect solution! The sailing experience was planned with water activities and an onboard barbecue, giving everyone an experience to remember.”
Tips from the bride: “Enjoy and collaborate with others through every step of the wedding planning process. Prioritise the important things and be creative with your budget management.”
