Traditional wedding with a modern twist. Thanks, Memoir Click Studio for capturing these photos and sharing it with us.

Jiayi: “We wanted something fancy that we wouldn’t normally get from hotels in Singapore, and we wanted to merge traditional Chinese with the modern, funky or retro themes of our younger generation, so we went with a Shanghai theme of deep luscious red, roses, lavish pearls, push carts and bright light bulbs. It was a marriage of a more youthful theme with the traditional requirements such as tons of auspicious red, traditional gift baskets, bedroom slippers and wedding favours. The venue was able to accommodate large amounts of people and the food was splendid.

“Some of the most memorable moments were the grand set-up, the smiling faces of my friends and relatives, the excited hype from my siblings, the big march-in and the video leading up to it, the jittery feeling from walking up on stage and facing such a big crowd for the first time, the boisterous Yam-Seng, and so many others that come only once in a lifetime.”

Tips from the bride: “There will be many tips from many people, so just stick to what you and your partner like and are comfortable with, and work within your budget, for there will surely be extra unforeseen costs! You can never please everyone, so just please yourselves – it’s your wedding after all!”
