What an exciting venue! As an experienced wedding planner, Jacqui relied on her favourite vendors in Koh Samui to make sure that her big day ran smoothly. Needless to say, Cherry May Ward is one of them – thanks for sending us the photos.
Cherry May Ward: “Jacqui has been a wedding planner on the island for many years, and she wanted to do something a little different to the traditional tropical beach wedding. A keen sailor, she chose ‘The Naga’ Yacht for the ceremony, and this also guaranteed complete privacy. Jacqui and Kevin both live on Koh Samui so they knew that they would also need a venue that could accommodate around 100 guests for the evening. They chose Bar Ice Samui as this offered their guests a twist on the idea of attending a wedding on a tropical island.
“Jacqui’s favourite colour has always been blue so she decided to incorporate this colour throughout the wedding, including opting for a non-traditional blue wedding dress. Her bouquets were a mix of blue and white hydrangeas, as these remind her of home in the UK. She wore a silver charm bracelet that she had been given as a child, now filled with charms from her travels, and the bridesmaids wore Tiffany necklaces and bracelets.
“As an alternative to confetti, Jacqui and Kevin chose to give their guests wedding wands to wave in celebration of their marriage; these were made by their daughters using chopsticks and ribbon. In the evening, guests were given a wristband each that was made by a friend’s daughter.”
Kevin: “Our most memorable moments included our three children meeting for the first time and becoming good friends. Jacqui’s son gave her away and both our daughters were bridesmaids. As part of the wedding, we asked our children to do a ‘hand fastening’ ceremony to signify the joining of our two families. The ceremony was emotional and intimate with close friends and family present, followed by a great party with all of our friends on the island.”
Tips from the bride: “Enjoy the planning process of your wedding and make it fun – there are loads of great ideas if you search the Internet. It’s your day so it should also reflect who you are as a couple.”
