With a classic wedding palette of white, green, light pink and champagne, this dreamy wedding had lots of heart, set against a rustic backdrop of woodsy elements and simple garden textures. Paying homage to their adopted home of Australia, the newlyweds centred their theme on an Australian wildflower: the king protea, which is known for its deep hues of coral and pink. The gorgeous wildflowers were a trendy touch, as was the circular backdrop for when the couple exchanged their vows. Many thanks to Anson’s Photography for this beautiful set of photos!

Mayble: “The most memorable moment was when we were exchanging our vows. It meant so much after being in a relationship for 12 years. I never imagined he would cry on our wedding day but he did. It melted my heart as I felt the same way about him. We both enjoyed every second of the wedding, and we were thankful to all our families and friends who came to celebrate our day with us.

“I have always wanted a rustic garden wedding. After six months of searching, we found Emu Bottom Homestead through mutual friends. We visited the venue and fell right in love with it when we got there. For us, our wedding didn’t have to be fancy. We simply wanted to celebrate with our close family and friends.

“After nearly 10 years of living in Australia, I’ve fallen in love with the native flowers, especially the king protea. We did lots of DIY wedding projects, such as making the table centrepiece arrangement, flower bouquets and photobooth. I handpicked most of the flowers from the market, including the protea, banksia, roses, baby’s breath and paper daisies.

“We knew how much our guestbook would mean to us, so we made our own with lots of photos in 5R size. Our guests picked a photo that they liked and wrote their well wishes to us on it, like a postcard. We made our own favours: candles in strawberry champagne or basil mandarin flavour. To entertain the children, we prepared colouring books, bubbles and other goodies for them.”

Tips from the bride: “Weddings are expensive but there are lots of ways to cut down on your budget. For example, make your own table arrangements, photobooth and flower bouquet. Get your friends and family to help, both to minimise your stress and also to involve them in the journey. The most important thing is to find a great photographer and videographer to capture every moment. Research wedding ideas six months to a year ahead. Last but not least, enjoy every single moment of your wedding day!”
