Imagine tying the knot with your beloved at a farmhouse, surrounded by lush rainforest and with the sound of a babbling brook in the background. Wouldn’t that be the most peaceful spot? These newlyweds made their wedding so personal and cosy by having their solemnisation and wedding reception on none other than the bride’s family farm at Hulu Langat. With the help of the bride’s mum, this classic all-white look was made complete with warm wood tones and rustic DIY touches. Many thanks to Jasmine. A Photography for capturing this breathtaking set of wedding photos!

Iman: “Every moment of our wedding day was special in its own way. One of the most special moments for me, as cheesy as it may sound, was when I walked down the aisle with my mother and sister, and saw my soon-to-be husband sitting across my father at the solemnisation table. All the nerves and jitters I had been feeling went away. Even though we had an amazing harpist playing ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ at that moment, I don’t remember hearing any of it. It was as if my hearing and vision were so focused on the end of the aisle that I blocked out everything else.

“Another one of my favourite moments was during the wedding reception, when my husband and I were eating at our little bridal table. From there we could see our guests eating, mingling, making trips to the ice cream truck, taking pictures near the river, and just enjoying themselves. Witnessing the lively ambience, happy guests and full tummies made the months of preparation and planning all worth it.

“Choosing Tanah Larwina, which is my family’s farm, as our wedding venue was an easy decision. My father bought the land nine years ago, and has been nurturing and cultivating it to become a beautiful retreat for our family and friends to enjoy. As the venue itself already set the tone for our theme – green and natural – we decided that any additional décor should serve to highlight the gorgeous jungle backdrop rather than obstruct it. I opted for a timeless rustic look with an abundance of baby’s breath, which is my favourite flower. All the other flowers were white, including roses and wisteria, which were arranged alongside eucalyptus leaves, ivy and ferns.

“For the dais (throne for the bride and groom for when they exchange rings), we decided to use the swing structure built by my father about 15 years ago. The swing was already white so it suited the theme perfectly! My mother, being a creative person and good with crafts, offered to DIY the wedding favours, which were small jars of honey and succulents. She also did the hantaran (marriage gifts from the bride to the groom). She had a recipe for making everything look rustic – wrapping everything with burlap cloth and tying it with twine.”

Tips from the bride: “My advice is to prepare a lookbook or Pinterest board for your wedding decorator to make sure they fully understand your vision for your dream wedding. I compiled mine from Pinterest and Instagram, and included flower arches, signages, table decorations and more. From looking at the pictures, the planner and decorator immediately understood the kind of look and theme I was going for. When the setup and decorations were brought to life, it was even better than what I could have ever imagined.”
