We were completely charmed by the gorgeous blend of colours in this classy tropical wedding at Roofino SkyDining & Bar, Kuala Lumpur. The love and familial support that went into this beautiful wedding just gets you. The father of the bride handcrafted the bridal bouquet, corsages and boutonnieres, taking the responsibility upon himself when he noticed his daughter agonising over the cost of flowers. Heading out to Chinatown on the eve of the wedding, he found all her desired flowers and prepared them that day. Shared the bride: “He offered to make them himself and he brought the cost of flowers down by 70%. I was sceptical initially but he turned out the most beautiful bouquets!”
With the help of her bridesmaids, she designed her wedding programmes and got them printed, and her bridesmaids were only too happy to help out with the rest of the DIY. On her wedding day, the bride wore the veil her mother had worn 30 years ago on her own wedding day! “It gave my look so much meaning and I’m so glad I wore it,” she recalled.
“I’d also like to give a shout out to Willow Events for going the extra mile to make my vision a reality. They took the time to truly understand what I liked, and the moment I walked into the venue on the day, I was blown away by how amazing the place looked.”
Tips from the bride: “I took things one step at a time. Get all the big things out of the way first, such as settling your wedding date, venue and the type of wedding you want. Then follow a feasible timeline to get things done. Discuss and decide things with your husband. Whatever you see online would most probably cost a bomb so find the right vendors to bring your dreams to life well within your budget – and stick to it. Lower your expectations and ask yourself if you really need ‘that thing’. They are usually short-lived wants.
“My big sister Priscilla told us this one truth we will never forget: whatever will go wrong, will go wrong! This useful reminder kept me grounded and helped me to manage my stress, especially at the wedding itself. My BFF Mien and her husband also furnished us with another handy tip, which was to enjoy the day and spend as much time together as possible. Finally, don’t try to get too many opinions when making a decision as it will only confuse and cause doubt. If you and your groom think it’s right, then just go for it.”
