The Blue Mansion in Penang, previously known as the Cheong Fatt Tse Mansion, brings you back in time and leaves you with a warm feeling of home. Here, the iconic blue structure, very wisely combined with colourful kebayas and cheongsams worn by the family, resulted in really beautiful photos.

Ann: “We definitely knew what we didn’t want, which was a hotel ballroom wedding. We considered a beach wedding but knew that all of our guests would be sweating. While doing research, we came across Alex Tan’s photos of Lynn and Arnaud’s wedding, immediately fell in love with the venue and placed a booking the very next day.

“With such a beautiful venue, deciding on our theme was really easy – oriental. My family is very proud to be Peranakan Chinese, and we love our beautiful kebayas. It was easy to get everyone to turn up in traditional outfits. The mansion and décor were simple yet beautiful, and I remember at one point in the evening, looking around and thinking this is exactly how we imagined our wedding to be.”

Tips from the bride: “Don’t ever fall for the ‘it’s only once in a lifetime’ marketing gimmick. Always choose whatever suits your budget, and most importantly, what you and your husband agree on. It’s not worth it to argue over that one day. Also, your actual day wedding photographer is the most important of all, because he or she will need to capture the right moments to create memories that will last a lifetime.”
