Effie and Winston met through work in New York City. Both are currently residing in Shanghai, and it is beautiful to have their photographer capture their everyday life around their neighbourhood. We love this because when you look at these photos, you don’t just focus on how they look, but you also allow the surroundings to add another layer of narrative. We can’t emphasise enough how much we love Chris Spira’s photography style, and the fact that she spends so much time in Asia. You should really catch her when she is in town!

Chris: “A day in the life of a creative couple living in Shanghai. I had the pleasure of following Effie and Winston around town to their favourite neighboorhood places and weekend hangouts. Both being into architecture and design, you could easily see their choices were pretty cool, creative and design driven. We started in their apartment, where both had a look at the first prints of their wedding invitations. We then biked around Taikang Lu neigbourhood, including a visit to the local wet market and a short stroll through the streets of the former French concession and the bund.

“Both have lived in New York, so we thought it was a must to incorporate that flat iron heritage building on Wukang Lu that architectually ‘connects’ Shanghai and New York City. Other than that, we sampled lots of local deliciousness mixed with great conversations and laughter. Having a connection and relaxed energy totally helped in creating beautiful images together. And a casual pre-wedding session is a great way to get to know each other before I photograph their big day.”
