A Gilded, Glamorous Wedding At Tanarimba, Janda Baik

This juxtaposition of gold and gilded glamour against the lush greenery of nature certainly made for a comfortable yet elegant wedding. Despite the detailed décor, the couple kept things cosy and intimate, infusing much of their personality into their wedding. With simple décor points like white drapery and green vines looping the wedding arch, modern bridesmaids’ dresses, magical hanging lights, and elaborate, gorgeous centrepieces with hanging vines and beads, everything came together perfectly. Many thanks to Brian Ho of thegaleria for capturing this stunning set of photos.

Charlotte: “It was really special to have my father walk beside me and give me away to the man I was about to marry. It was the best father-daughter moment. He was way more composed than me, as he was calm, smiling and initiated applause from our guests. When he handed me over to Adam, he paused and said, ‘Please take good care of her for me.’ Strong emotions welled up and we had to hold back tears.

“Another special moment was when Adam surprised me by singing ‘Like I’m Gonna Lose You’ and serenaded us into our first dance. Also, when I stepped into our venue hall early in the morning of our big day and saw that my entire extended family was already there busy setting up and decorating the whole place. I knew the day was going to be more than great because everyone who has loved and supported us from day one were there.

“We wanted a place that was away from the hustle and bustle of the city, yet not too far away. We loved the greenery and wooden structures of Tanarimba and felt comfortable in that setting. Adam and I wanted to make sure our wedding had a lot of ‘us’ and our personality in it. We had each of our guests’ names written in calligraphy (by my best friend) for their place cards, the napkins were imprinted with our wedding logo, the tables were named according to our relationship milestones (such as our courtship, where he proposed, our first kiss, etc). And for wedding favours, we had our logo made into stickers and stuck them onto wine glasses for the guests to eventually take home.”

Tips from the bride: “We were our own wedding planners so if you’re going down that route too, get your gowns, heels and makeup sorted early, as that’ll give you more time to plan the rest. I used a lot of images from Pinterest and created a moodboard to share with my bridal party. Be certain about what you want, delegate tasks according to your strengths, make a list to prioritise what is absolutely necessary and what can be omitted based on budget. For example, a good photographer is paramount, so I made sure I got one whose style is one I admired. Also, make very thorough event briefs and communicate that meticulously to your trusted friends who’ll be helping you coordinate your wedding day because on that day, you’ll just want to look beautiful, soak in the moments, and rock and roll.”
