As we mark a year since Covid-19 came into our lives, we also celebrate with this bride and groom who managed to squeeze in their nuptials before the world, and our lives as we knew it, changed. Their celebration was so intimate, cosy and full of love! In lieu of wedding entertainment, the bride’s family performed, which made it even more meaningful. The elegance of their beach wedding transformed into a marquee reception was subtle yet classy, made complete with a colour palette of white, dusty pink and sage. Many thanks to Sugar and Spice Events for sharing and Manoj Photography for capturing this sweet wedding!

Jia-Wei: “There were so many memorable moments, including seeing our many months of preparation finally come to life. Because our wedding was at the beginning of the Covid-19 outbreak, we were concerned that many of our guests from overseas would not make it. We were very thankful and blessed to have our closest family members and friends from around the world gather for our special day. We did not hire a band; instead, the entertainment for the night were surprise performances from my family, which were very touching.

“We’ve always loved the rustic theme and wanted to keep it simple with lots of greenery for our décor. Our colours were sage, white and a hint of dusty pink. For the wedding venue, we knew we did not want to have a ballroom wedding. We wanted a more relaxed and intimate celebration to feel closer to our guests, so when we found out Shangri-la Rasa Sayang had a marquee in their Raintree Garden by the sea, we knew it was the perfect location for us.”

Tips from the bride: “I will confess, I was probably a bridezilla and that’s okay! It is completely normal to want your wedding day to be perfect, but just remember to enjoy yourself because the day passes so quickly that any minor details are irrelevant. I did a lot of research to get inspiration, mainly from Instagram, Pinterest and Etsy. My tips for Instagram users are to search using hashtags (you’ll be surprised by how much you can find) and remember to follow your favourite vendors. Also, if there’s something you love that isn’t your theme colour, just go for it anyway!”
