This wedding is simple and beautiful, with enough old school stuff to put a smile on your guests’ faces. We love the minimalist, clean look. Thanks, Wedding Diary, for sending us these pictures that were so beautifully captured by Lightedpixels Pixies.

Stephanie: “The funniest thing was when the solemniser called me a man. That aside, the most special moments were when we exchanged our vows, and our first dance as husband and wife. Joanna Dong sang for us, and it felt like there was no one else in the world but us. We also loved it when our family and friends spontaneously went on stage to sing with the band, all the random, loud toasting, and the spontaneous dancing! And we had a lot of desserts, because we had awesome home baker friends who baked lots of delicious sweets and a cake for us. Yum!

“There was no concept; we just wanted it simple, intimate and classy. The wedding was cosy, intimate, and full of laughter, great food, alcohol and dancing. There was so, so much love. We only wish we had more time to spend with each guest. We had talented friends who took to the stage to sing! We’ll let the pictures and video speak for themselves. As you can tell, we smiled and laughed so much that you couldn’t see our eyes. We also had a hashtag – #dwinandstefdoit – so we could trace and view all the pictures our friends posted on the various social media platforms. That was so helpful. Sam of Lightedpixels Pixies even made a video for us. It made me cry.”

Tips from the bride: “We found really amazing vendors just by randomly surfing the web, which was fortunate. Of course at the start we didn’t know whom or what to go with, but we were both sure that we didn’t want a typical wedding. We wanted a cosy, intimate celebration with great food and our family and dearest friends. After exploring some venues, we chanced upon Skyve, and visited the restaurant for dinner. What really sold us was Maggie, the manager. She is a real gem – patient, helpful, and always going the extra mile for us. After securing the date and venue, everything else was pretty easy. Just take it step by step. We planned everything ourselves. Allow yourselves time to research the previous work of vendors, and allow them to know you and you to know them. Along the way, there will be many people who will have multiple opinions, and there may be upsets too. For me, what really helped was focusing on the big picture. Too many girls focus on the wedding, but what’s more important is using the planning process to build a marriage, so choose your battles.”

Edwin: “Steph is an amazing planner so I had no worries there. And I think her trust and loving approach towards the vendors made them want to go the extra mile for her. But I learnt that both parties need to be onboard and excited to make the experience special. It’s so much more fun that way. There will be disagreements but I viewed them as insights into my future wife, and an opportunity to learn how to deal with conflicts in the future.”
