Rain just might be the perfect accompaniment to your wedding, especially if your celebration is set amidst a verdant jungle on a sultry day. For this bridal couple, rain meant a pair of classic black umbrellas to match the tropical backdrop, rustic wooden textures, lush foliage and sunny smiles all round.

Their wardrobe was suitably relaxed: the bride wore a gown with a detachable train while the groom was folksy in a teal vest, beryl pants and rolled-up sleeves. Above them, glass bulbs adorned the timber beams of a pavilion, and in the night, the warm lights burned intensely. Here’s to a wedding that popped with so much colour, and a toast to Harvard Wang for these beautiful photos!

Hui Yin: “The most memorable moment would probably be the short photography session before the tea ceremony. It was a very awkward moment for us, as we are very shy people and it was still drizzling from the heavy rain prior. The rain also caused everyone to be late to the wedding, even the bride and groom! The other moments included the time spent catching up with old friends who I hadn’t seen in years but had made the effort to come.”

Tips for brides-to-be: “Have a simple idea or concept in mind that you know you can stick to. Don’t be a bridezilla because nothing ever goes like you expect it to! I wanted a super simple wedding but we still had multiple mishaps throughout the night. Having a wedding planner is a lifesaver! If you are getting your dress made, try to be sure about your designer before jumping into it, as you’re going to be paying a lot for it. Also, be prepared that it might not turn out the way that you want because it does happen. When it does, be ready to come up with solutions yourself if the designer can’t.”
