Keeping the colours neutral and textures minimal was the initial plan for this couple as they didn’t want anything outrageous – and they were pleasantly surprised when everything came together so well. From the nautical navy colours and taupe rope textures to the gilded accents and lush green tablescape, everything was finished with a touch of elegance. We especially love the wedding logo on the small boat, which was subtle yet special. Thanks to Mayad Studios for capturing these beautiful wedding photos.

Sarah: “Watching our same day edit wedding video at our dinner reception was pretty memorable for everyone present. It was unbelievable how our videographers managed to piece together the entire day within a few hours and have it debut that same evening.

“The bridal party’s entrance at the dinner reception was such an unforgettable moment. Everyone, including the parents on both sides, paired up and danced their way into the venue and that really got the party started! Francis and I were both so focused on making our bridal party get the right songs and choreographed dances that we forgot to come up with our own moves. So when it was our turn to make our entrance, we had to wing it!

“Since we were having our wedding reception on the beach, we thought it would be a great idea to give everyone singlets. The inspiration came from those Bintang and Singha singlets most travellers get when they party on tropical islands. We personalised the singlets to have our wedding logo on the front and our wedding hashtag #franzlovessarah on the back so everyone would remember to use the hashtag when they snapped pictures throughout the night. Our thank you cards were all handwritten and attached to the singlets, which greeted our guests when they sat down at their allocated tables.

“We made sure that there was a charging station for mobile phones at the dinner reception as all guests would have been with us since 2pm that day. The most outrageous things we had at our wedding reception were a small boat with our wedding logo on its sail, and fire dancers! Oh, and fireworks too!”

Tips from the bride: “Firstly, let your photographers know exactly what shots you want taken on the day. We totally forgot to mention what group shots we wanted taken and focused more on what we wanted the photos to look like. Looking back, we missed out on group shots like his and hers high school and basketball team photos that would’ve been awesome to keep as memories.

“Secondly, create a wedding hashtag so guests can upload and share photos from every single angle. And finally, if you’re having a garden wedding or anticipate that guests will have to walk on grass, let them know to bring heel stoppers if they’ll be wearing stilettos. Otherwise, suggest that they wear wedges or a chunkier heel so they don’t sink into the lawn!”
