A Simple Picking Up the Bride Ceremony at Halaman Boutique Guesthouse, Kuala Lumpur
If you don’t have a big enough space for a gatecrashing ceremony, or prefer something more minimalistic when it comes to picking up the bride, renting a boutique guesthouse might not be a bad idea. Look at this Insta-worthy venue! We love all the small touches that were added to make this wedding meaningful. Thank you for these amazing pictures, Jessielyee. Photography.
Opting for an oriental theme with modern touches, the bridal couple wore white for their morning ceremony, which took place at an Airbnb unit called Halaman Boutique Guesthouse. Its size allowed their families to spend the evening prior to the wedding with them, and instead of a gatecrashing ceremony, the couple hung out with their family and friends, and had their photos taken.
At the lunch reception, the use of gold, brown and peach shades for the photobooth was a refreshing shift from the reds that usually feature in an oriental setup. The couple also prepared a video compilation that played throughout, much to their guests’ delight!
Tips from the bride: “Wedding preparation is a very tiring process, and if you don’t enjoy the journey, you will not be happy with your wedding. What we did for ours was simplify the ceremony while retaining traditions and respecting our elders by having a tea ceremony. Everything has to be well organised in order for it to run smoothly. If you have the budget for it, hiring a good wedding planner will put your mind at ease and stop you from being overwhelmed. Finally, having good discussions with your vendors are really important.”
