More often than not, what matters to a couple will naturally be reflected in their wedding. For Kee Hong and Louis, who met in England and celebrated their engagement in romantic Paris, honouring family traditions and their heritage was at the heart of their wedding, which was held at the Blue Mansion in Penang.
Fusing auspicious red with blue, beige and cream, the couple created a wedding palette that was loud in its declaration of prosperity and tradition, yet modern and easy on the eyes. Many thanks to Andrew Yep Photographie for this smashing album!
For the bride, one of the most memorable parts of the wedding was getting to wear her mother-in-law’s traditional ‘Qun Kua’. “It was one of the most memorable pieces that will add to our treasure chest of family stories, in addition to hosting our wedding in the Blue Mansion. That area is where I grew up, and we had the best time celebrating with our closest family and friends,” she said.
The wedding favours were delightful snacks wrapped in brown paper, which the bride enjoyed putting together, and the couple were wise to keep everything else minimal. As the bride shared, “It was really a simple reception table with a centrepiece on all the guest tables, as the venue itself was outstanding on its own.”
Tips from the bride: “We started planning a year ahead, prioritising the wedding venue as so many factors, such as the theme, depended on it. Plans are important, but so are sharing tears and laughter, faith and belief. We’re ever grateful to have found someone who stays when we’re in bad shape. We believe in settling for less than perfection and making allowances for human weaknesses.”
