You can either complain about everything that went wrong at your wedding, or just enjoy it with your guests who are there to celebrate your love for each other. This bride chose the latter. Look at the smiles in these photos; Shena looked absolutely lovely and gorgeous! Thanks for these photos, Marlon Capuyan.

Shena: “Looking back on our wedding day, the most memorable moments were actually the ‘small’ and ‘in between’ moments. It’s true when they say that your wedding day goes by really fast; it was only during those moments that we were able to slow down and appreciate it, those short yet sweet moments where the two of us could be alone to talk and catch up with one another.

“Other moments that were memorable were seeing each other for the first time as I walked down the aisle, saying our wedding vows, being in the bridal car together for the first time after the wedding ceremony, our first dance, and, at the end of the day, going back to our villa as husband and wife for the first time.

“We wanted to have a rustic and elegant country themed wedding with a soft, muted and ethereal colour palette, with lots of surprising and thoughtful DIY details with an understated whimsy. It was bohemian in the sense that it was based on our personalities and the choices we made were quite different from the norm. It was modest, lighthearted, fun, unpretentious and ‘us’ in every way.”

Tips from the bride: “It’s so easy to get all caught up in the wedding preparations and in wanting to make every detail of the wedding as perfect as possible. Accept that things won’t always go according to plan, and there will always be last minute changes. As I got out of the bridal car and prepared to walk down the aisle, my assistant couldn’t figure out how to put my bridal train on, and the petticoat underneath wasn’t in the correct position. It could have ruined my day but I decided to just go with it and walked down the aisle without it.

“People didn’t even notice and the dress still looked as lovely and flawless. After the ceremony, when we were on the way to our postnuptial pictorials, it rained and the sunset that we were hoping to have as a backdrop was gone. However, the dark and gloomy sky became a pleasant surprise as it made the photos look more dramatic and unique. Be open to improvisation, trust in your wedding suppliers to do their job, sit back and relax, and just enjoy the moments as they unfold because it will all come together beautifully.”
