We were absolutely taken with this simple beach wedding that was held at The Westin Langkawi. Featuring neutral and earth tones against the white sand of the beach and lush greenery of the hotel gardens, it was the perfect wedding for the couple, who love being outdoors. “We wanted something feminine and not too rugged,” said the bride. “This was perfect for us. The beautiful surroundings of The Westin Langkawi made it very easy for us to work towards our theme. We had the beach and the beautifully manicured trees.”
The couple’s favourite ideas included the hanging jars at the ceremony venue, which were filled with white flowers and foliage. “They looked stunning in the photos and gave our beach wedding a gorgeously romantic vibe, while the lights at the reception truly livened the atmosphere,” she added.
To keep the look consistent, the couple asked for extra greenery to be added for the reception, and indeed, the canopy of lanterns and lights that hung overhead as the couple and their guests dined the night away was beautiful.
Tips from the bride: “Involve the groom early and work together to find a theme and style that will work for both your personalities. Know that Pinterest will be your best friend. Create a moodboard for the different aspects of the wedding – ceremony, reception lighting, reception flowers, invitations, bridesmaids/groomsmen attire, and bridal bouquet – so you have a clear idea of what you want to achieve.
“Etsy is an excellent resource for DIY style wedding props (wedding invitations, welcome boards, flower girl dresses, wedding favours, etc.). Some vendors have excellent quality products at very reasonable prices.
“Finally, hire a wedding planner. Yes, it adds to the overall wedding cost, but you will be thankful on your big day when there is someone you can rely on to ensure the smooth running of the day and to deal with all the hiccups.”
