For many couples, a postponement of their wedding was inevitable when the pandemic hit. With Bianca and Modesto, however, they decided to bring forward their wedding date and just tie the knot anyway! Saying ‘I do’ to the love of your life really just needs the both of you, a handful of witnesses (loved ones and family), and the priest to officiate. Standing before just 10 guests and with social distancing protocols in place, they pulled it off!

That didn’t mean they had to compromise on the décor and flowers or their wonderful day. With the mothers of the bride and groom looking resplendent in their grey-blue gowns and the groom’s dapper chequered suit, everything came together with the lush green leaves, ferns and wheat stalks and rattan pendants and lights. Many thanks to ProudRad for capturing this beautiful impromptu wedding.

Bianca: “The most memorable moment of our wedding was walking down the aisle, of course! Seeing my groom waiting for me at the end of the aisle gave me a feeling of pure joy. Also, I was awestruck seeing the venue (for both the ceremony and reception) for the first time. I had no idea what it would look like since I just kept bouncing ideas off our stylist and coordinator. I was so stunned by how beautiful everything was. We planned it in three months, and it was as if it had taken more than a year to plan because of how well everything flowed.

“We did an impromptu wedding. Our original wedding date was supposed to be 18th December 2020, but because of the COVID pandemic, we opted to bring everything forward since we had no idea when the situation would get better. We were not willing to move it to a later date. We made the decision in April to move our wedding to 26th July 2020, which was the date of our 3rd anniversary. We had three months to plan and had to start from scratch since most, if not all, of our original suppliers were unavailable on our new chosen date. Our theme was silver and blue, mainly because these were the colours of gowns and ties that our very few guests had on hand, and there was no time to have anything made. For safety as well, we decided to have the reception at the groom’s house. We are very thankful to our wedding coordinator, stylist and caterer for making everything work beautifully despite the rush and additional safety protocols.” Tips from the bride: “Work with what you have. We got married in the middle of a global pandemic so we didn’t really have options. Get yourself a good and trustworthy wedding coordinator/planner, it will reduce the stress by half! Don’t be afraid to ask for help. When our original suppliers backed out due to the change in date, we reached out to friends and family who helped us find alternatives. Get a stylist. Being a bride-to-be, ideas must be flowing in and out of your head. A stylist will be able to make sense of those ideas and make it work beautifully! Despite the stress of having an impromptu wedding during a pandemic, we still wouldn’t have it any other way. The pandemic allowed us to decide on our priorities, which was to be with each other, and to celebrate our love and marriage with our families present, with God’s blessing.
