Many talk about having an intimate wedding, but few get to experience a celebration like Irina and Erzhan’s. The newlyweds, who are from Kazakhstan, had only both sets of parents there to witness their special day – which, ultimately, is truly what matters.
Photographer Anna-Rina remembers the moment she first received an email from Irina. “Is this some kind of joke?” she thought. It’s not every day that a Malaysian photographer based in Kuala Lumpur gets the opportunity to photograph a wedding celebration with just four guests. “I don’t understand Kazakh,” she said. “But I could feel the romance in the air. Seriously!”
A year before their big day, Erzhan had surprised Irina with a holiday to India where he proposed in front of the Taj Mahal – the majestic monument that was built as a sign of eternal love.
