When the father of the groom said he didn’t want a “typical Chinese wedding”, this couple jumped at the opportunity to do something different – a backyard wedding for loved ones and close friends that was swanky yet cosy.

The first thing they did was to hire a reliable wedding planner and discuss their plans with a decorator. They decided on blush, gold and green – colours that they loved and that would bring out the natural beauty of the family home. Bouquets of roses and hydrangeas adorned the lovely garden where they would wed, and every other detail, too, was planned and carried out to perfection. Many thanks to MCS Wedding Gallery for this fantastic album!

The bride shared: “When we decided on our theme of blush and gold with a touch of green, the outcome was unbelievably beautiful. Girls always have this fantasy of their dream wedding, and I had imagined mine since I was six when I first watched Cinderella. I also know that there’s always a gap between dreams and reality, but all that did come true for me!”

Tips from the bride: “Hire a wedding planner. John and I understood the difficulty in handling everything on our own as we live overseas, and we knew we would need a planner to deal with the vendors on our behalf. After interviewing a few candidates, we hired Agnes of PREP. What convinced us was her experience in the industry. We knew we had made the right decision when everything from the wedding preparations to the actual day ran smoothly.

“Our wedding planner aided us in many aspects. Her price estimates kept us sharp so that vendors couldn’t take advantage of us. It is easy to engage a vendor and it is also easy to lose track of the coordination. Our wedding planner was the only person who truly made this easier on us. Lastly, as the bride and groom, it’s your time to shine and to look great for photos with the guests. You don’t want to have to rush about trying to sort things out.”
