Unfortunately, Malaysia’s (often uncomfortable) tropical weather just doesn’t lend itself well to outdoor celebrations. But with its expansive windows and high ceilings that added to the glamour and beauty of this ceremony, City Harvest KL is arguably the next best thing to an outdoor wedding.

From the bridesmaids’ mismatched gold and glittery dresses and groomsmen’s dapper grey suits to the soft pink, white and green bridal bouquet, everything came together for this wedding, complementing each other perfectly. Just like the bride and groom. Thanks to Alextan Artworks for capturing this stylish and glamorous affair set up by Mint Events & Soirées.

Jonathan: “Our theme was industrial chic – industrial based on the venue in its natural state, and we added the chic as a ‘feminine element’ to complement the masculinity of the industrial feel. Dark and neutral colours were added to accentuate the contrasts.”

Mei Ying: “Apart from walking down the aisle, the intimate moment with my parents as they were helping me with my dress and veil in the morning before the ceremony was really special. But, along the way, our vintage bridal car broke down! We were a bit stressed but everyone was still in good spirits and nothing was going to ruin the day for us.

“At our dinner reception, instead of doing the traditional ‘walk-in’, we did a ‘drive-in’ because the hotel had that feature (completely Jonathan’s idea, mind you). To top it all off, my husband also ended the night by surprising me with a live song – which he probably enjoyed more than I did.”

Tips from the bride: “Pick a venue that is comfortable for yourself, as some wedding dresses can be warmer than you think. Some vintage cars may not have the best air-conditioning too, so take that into consideration if you are travelling a distance in them. Practice walking in your dress and heels to prevent tripping on your big day! Getting your hair and makeup done may take more time than you think. Finally, hire a wedding planner, or at the very least, a coordinator for the day itself – it’ll help you in so many more ways than you can imagine.”
