This wedding was the perfect mix of simple and grand, old and new, vintage and glamour. The couple even had the cutest hashtag to go with it – #soyawedscincau! From the bride’s wedding dress, which looked simple from the front but was dramatic and breathtaking from the back, to the reception, just about everything was truly a sight to behold.

The colour theme of maroon certainly set the tone, making the celebration romantic, mysterious and dreamy all at the same time, and we love that ingenious table arrangement idea! Many thanks to Anna-Rina Photography for capturing (and sharing) such a lovely set of photos.

Amelda: “I love how committed we were to surprising each other in every possible way, even on our wedding day. He pre-arranged with the DJ to play certain songs while he said his vows, and I organised a flash mob with the help of his closest friends, which was so beautifully performed!

“We both wanted our matrimonial celebration to be reflective of how we’d walk our path in marriage – being appreciative of the simple things and also indulging in a little grandeur occasionally. We had a lot of fun planning every detail and seeing them materialise.

“Our church wedding was simple. I wore a contemporary ball gown with a 3 ft. long train and minimal accessories. Aaron and the groomsmen had a cute ensemble of socks, suspenders and badges whilst the bride’s squad wore matching badges with dresses in varying shades of maroon. Our entourage had a cute yellow VW Kombi, along with another maroon VW Kombi and a red hot Triumph Spitfire that was graciously lent to us by a good friend.

“We had an intimate wedding reception in the evening with only close family and friends. We chose Glasshouse at Seputeh as it was the perfect venue for having our reception under the stars without us having to worry about the volatile weather. We turned the place into a vintage glam wonderland, from the tablescapes to the cascading foliage, and complementing our maroon colour scheme with black and gold.

“We insisted on having a fully stocked bar and a lively dance floor with mood lights and gobo lighting, and our A|A logo featuring prominently throughout the venue. For food, we opted for tiffin serving despite it being rather unconventional, as we believed that communal dining and food sharing would create better conversations amongst our guests, and it worked! We also had a designated kids’ area to cater to our little guests, with gigantic balloons, drawing kits, and a separate kids’ dinner menu.

“Finally, we were adamant about not giving out wedding favours, and instead, organised a Christmas dinner for 60 children from an orphanage. We believe in giving back to those in need, and are truly glad that we made that decision. What a great note to start our journey together on!”

Tips from the bride: “Give yourself enough time to plan ahead. It’s always a good idea to source inspiration from prominent wedding planning info sites or Instagram. Aaron and I vouch for the importance of chemistry when it comes to the vendors you work with; we made it a point to keep in constant communication with them to ensure mutual understanding and a shared commitment to turning our concepts and ideas into reality. Lastly, nothing is more important than having fun on your big day. Remember to breathe, smile and cherish the blessings from loved ones who are there just for you both.”
