No one ever complains about an ice cream party, but this is so much more than just another good idea. There’s a story behind it, one that we’ll let the bride Charmaine share with you. We adore her Celest Thoi dress and those adorable flowergirl outfits. The simple white flowers against the rustic brown and blush pink shades look gorgeous too! Thanks for the photos, Arch & Vow Studio!

Charmaine: “As my family is the master franchiser of Baskin Robbins, I literally grew up with the brand, and my husband used to call me ‘Baskin-Robbins’ instead of my name before we began dating. Pink and brown are the theme colours for these two reasons: firstly, the Baskin-Robbins logo carries pink and brown polka dots, and I thought the colours went well together. Secondly, pink and brown evoke very different feelings – pink is romantic and sweet, while the earthy shades of brown bring a good balance so that the whole theme isn’t too princess-y or girly.

“One of the most unforgettable moments was when I walked down the aisle with my dad, along with the music played live by my sister’s boyfriend (piano) and my high school junior (cello). This private celebration with our closest friends and family was very meaningful and special, particularly the exchanging of vows and the speech by the Maid of Honour, who was my sister.

“I have a thing for red brick walls and industrial design. After a lot of research and venue surveys, City Harvest Church was the best option for me: modern and chic with the right size and perfect ceiling height. Thankfully they allow non-Christians to rent the venue as well.

“I wanted the event to be fun for my guests to get them to participate in the celebration. There was an ice cream cart, DIY confetti, balloon release, thumbprint sign up, and little messages dedicated to them to make sure they were having a good time as well.”

Tips from the bride: “It’s very important to have fun during the wedding planning process. My husband and I never argued over our wedding; in fact, we had a lot of fun throughout the process. Sometimes things won’t go as expected, it will never be perfect, but at the end of the day it’s your wedding, so who cares if you miss a line in your speech or your makeup doesn’t turn out exactly as you wished? It’s your wedding and your moment, so put aside your expectations and enjoy it. You don’t want to look back and remember it as a stressful event. Whether good moments or bad, they will all be part of your sweet memories. If you slip during your wedding march, have a good laugh and enjoy it! I used The Wedding Notebook a lot in my research, and I also did random browses on Pinterest.”
