Spirited and Heartwarming Bridal Portraits in Charming Yogyakarta, Indonesia
We adore the way this precious album of bridal portraits captures the beautiful couple’s love and the majestic charm of Yogyakarta in Indonesia. Often called Jogja, the city is known for its traditional arts and cultural heritage. Besides making it onto UNESCO’s tentative list of World Heritage Sites, it is also, in this particular instance, the hometown of the groom’s family, which just makes these photos all the more special. Thank you for these brilliant shots, Terralogical!
The photoshoot began at the magnificent Kraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat palace, where the Sultan resides. This was followed by the Taman Sari Water Castle, which is the former Sultan’s royal garden. Located about 2km south of the Kraton’s grounds, it is a mesmerising work of art, built in the 18th century to serve multiple functions such as a resting area, workshop, meditation and defence area, and hiding place.
At the Taman Sari Traditional Market, which is a popular local haunt, the images read like a journey into a beautiful past – in this case, that of the groom’s family. Clad in traditional and ethnic fabrics, the bridal couple clearly had a wonderful time as they immortalised these moments in their surroundings. What a meaningful way to pay homage to one’s culture and heritage, while paving the way for a future together.
