Dig a little deeper and you will find that there are many hidden wedding venue gems within the Klang Valley. We were absolutely delighted with this tropical paradise wedding at Ma-Ni Thai Cuisine in Tanjong Malim, Hulu Langat, and impressed with this couple’s creative touches that sought to bring family and friends together for a memorable evening without overstretching their budget.

The venue’s towering palm trees and luscious foliage set the perfect stage for the fun and romantic evening they had in mind. The sounds of camaraderie filled the air as guests showed up colourful outfits, adding visual and audible life to the occasion. Thank you, Jessielyee. Photography, for this amazing album!

“We chose the venue before deciding on the theme,” shared the bride. “From there, we knew what theme would be suitable, and we ran navy blue and orange through it. We also chose just one flower, the Bird of Paradise, so as not to have too many species crowd our theme.

“We presented guests with cute little tropical fruit-scented soaps as wedding favours. To personalise the gifts further, each guest was provided with a booklet of our love story and programme for the night. We are very grateful to have had a group of friends to help us with the whole planning and coordination of the wedding. Most things were prepared DIY with the help of friends, from flower arrangements to the desserts. We are also very thankful that the owner of the restaurant (who became our friend after this) personally ensured that everything went well. We served a scrumptious Thai meal to all our guests and they enjoyed it.”

Tips from the bride: “I think the best tip is to always remember that as much as we would like to make our dream wedding a reality, it is more important to focus on the marriage. Wedding is only a oneday event but marriage is a lifelong journey. Plan your wedding according to your means and budget, do not splurge on unnecessary things just to make it ‘instagrammable’. You can still do that but do it in a creative way; it’s quite fun to challenge yourself to find other ways to make things nice and see how things work out in the end. I think one of the most important things is to choose a good photographer and videographer who can capture all those magical moments in the wedding so you can look back on it with your husband when you are 90 and relive those moments together.

“I also think the quality of the food is very important, especially when your wedding requires travelling out of the city. We respected our family and friends’ time and we knew it would be great to end the night with a scrumptious meal as a treat to thank everyone for being a part of our big day.”
