A lovely navy blue and orange vintage garden wedding that exuded warmth and was filled with DIY touches put together by family and friends. Having grown up together for seven years, Pearlyn and Rongzhao’s relationship has seen both the joys and pains of life. Read more about their courtship on their wedding website here and check out these lovely images by AndroidsinBoots.

Pearlyn: “We wanted to keep things economical so we didn’t hire a wedding planner, but we did get help and advice from a wedding coordinator as well as from our friends. The décor contained elements of different aesthetics that we both like, shabby chic and vintage, and it was created with the help of AssembleHappinest and friends. When I saw the venue with all the décor and lights, and the lush greenery, I thought it looked just perfect. The beautiful outdoor wedding solemnisation was followed by a cocktail hour and live music played by our friends while the sun set over the gardens.

“The wedding invitations were genuine vintage postcards of the Singapore Botanic Gardens in the 19th century. Rongzhao thought it would be cool to use them as our wedding invites since that’s our venue, so we bought them online from the UK. We both like things that have a history and a story behind them, and are nostalgic for Singapore’s past. Our designer friend Hannah helped us put together the wedding invite, retaining the original vintage look. We inserted a map printed on special translucent paper and tied each invite with red and white baker’s twine. Each had names and addresses written with a calligraphic pen and came in a wax sealed envelope.

“My maid-of-honour was in Taiwan and saw a shop that sold chocolate squares in adorable wedding-themed packaging so she brought the favours all the way back. I also gave out Baci chocolates, which are not only delicious but also happened to fit my colour theme! They come with a quote on love inside the foil so they were perfect as wedding favours too.

“Due to our work schedules, we planned the wedding in about 5-6 months. It was an intense and busy time, and I think having pre-marital counseling helped us to put the focus on marriage and our love, rather than on the wedding itself, and we learned how to set our priorities. We are also grateful and thankful for all the help and support that came from our family, friends and wedding vendors that made our wedding beautiful and special.”
