The Wedding Notebook Magazine July 2021 – Issue 35
With travel plans and many weddings put on hold, we hope this issue will inspire you as you plan your own pandemic wedding. Most of these couples will have waited at least a year for their big day, and there’s a couple who waited 693 days! Despite the pared down guestlists and last-minute changes, each of these weddings were a dream come true, featuring unique highlights such as the creative use of an abandoned space, a yacht celebration, a Santorini-like venue, and a surprise retreat in place of an after party! What’s that saying? “If you can’t change the situation, change your attitude.” See how you can emulate a destination…

A Light-Filled, Minimalist Wedding with a Surprise Getaway at The Shorea!
With the pandemic that is upon us, it’s time to get creative. Life has to go on, and we love how this couple celebrated their union with a surprise getaway for their “after party”. Accompanied by their 20 guests, the trip followed their wedding ceremony at the conservatory-style restaurant Botanica + Co, and was actually a surprise from the groom to his new bride. How romantic! Many thanks to MunKeat Photography for capturing the joy of this beautiful celebration. Rowena of The Peak Xperience: “Jordan had pulled out all the stops to arrange a surprise retreat at The Shorea especially for Seh Xi, with a handful of their dearest friends…

A Whimsical and Glamorous Wedding in Ilocos Sur, The Philippines
After years in a long distance relationship, this couple was finally ready to get married, only to have a volcano eruption scare and the Covid-19 pandemic derail their wedding plans! Their persistence paid off at last – in an intimate gathering of just 42 people, they exchanged vows and were pronounced husband and wife. And despite their ever-changing plans, they still managed to have the wedding of their dreams. Many thanks to ProudRad for capturing this impeccably beautiful wedding, planned by Sweetdays by Chloe Pablico! Aloiza: “While this might sound cliché, every moment of our wedding day was memorable, for it was everything we hoped for and more. “Our love…

An All-White Nautical Themed Yacht Wedding in Manila Bay
The ongoing pandemic has meant that couples have had to get creative with their wedding planning, whether it was eloping, postponing, or simply keeping things really intimate. These newlyweds went one step further, tying the knot on a yacht! Now that’s a pandemic wedding for the photo albums. As a wedding venue, the yacht ticked all the right boxes, from keeping the guests safely distanced from crowds to, of course, being downright gorgeous. Thanks to ProudRad for these blissfully romantic wedding photos! Josh: “Our wedding planning was actually rushed, as we had originally planned to get married in Bali in January 2021. Due to unforeseen circumstances and the pandemic, we…

An Artistic and Dreamy Film Bridal Photoshoot in Batu Pahat, Johor
At first glance, these bridal portraits look like they are straight out of a Japanese countryside. There’s a forgotten quality of film photography that is only achieved in digital photos with edits or filters these days. This styled photoshoot that was shot with a Kodak Portra400 and Canon Eos55 created the perfect dreamy vibe for this couple, and one would never have guessed that it was done right here in Batu Pahat, Johor! It’s amazing what a little creative styling and an old-fashioned film camera can do. Many thanks to Rayson Lo and Yandha Goh of Sanren Studio for this wonderful set of photos. A Dreamy Dusty Pink Evening Wedding With Fairy Lights in Singapore
We love the contrarian route this couple took – firstly, by choosing to have their ceremony in the evening, with the bride walking in at sunset; and secondly, by using dried flowers and leaves, save for the pops of dusty pink. The timing made all the difference as the newlyweds said their vows underneath a majestic tree covered in beautiful fairy lights, surrounded by 50 of their friends and family. Thanks to Hellofrom flour for this dreamy setup, and Juanmoley Fotologue for this lovely set of photos! Farron: “My most memorable moment was during the solemnisation, when Jasmine and I were having our own little side conversation during the celebrant’s…

A Modern Rust Orange Iban Wedding in Kuching
Iban culture is rooted in lots of rituals, especially when it comes to weddings. This celebration didn’t just bring together two families, it also brought together the old and the new, showcasing Iban traditions while keeping to a modern and minimalist theme. The bride and groom had fun choosing colours that represented their personalities – rust orange for the bride to signify fire, and pastel blue for the groom to signify water. What a way to celebrate their union! Thanks to Andy Phe Photography for the photos, and congrats to In Esse Event & Design for pulling this off. Bryan: “The most memorable moment from our big day was the…

A Cosy, Rustic Lemonade-Coloured Wedding in The Grounds, Kuala Lumpur
The brick wall aesthetic is always a rustic touch. Pair it with bright pops of yellow, orange and blush pink, and you get a vibrant wedding celebration filled with joyful vibes. We love that the colour palette was “lemonade citrus”, with actual lemons as part of the décor. Keeping it intimate and small, the bride and groom exchanged their vows in front of just 50 guests, against a gilded hexagonal arch as their backdrop. Thanks to Louis Gan Photography for capturing this sweet set of photos! Rachael: “The most memorable for us was having the presence of our close family and friends from overseas on our big day (just before…
