“Initially, John wanted a fuss free pre-wedding shoot in a studio here in Seoul, but I was determined to shoot it ourselves with cherry blossoms filling the scene. It was a foreign experience for both John and I, also because it was our first visit to Yeongam, and as we were changing in the car at the outdoor parking lot (during a cherry blossom festival) and I was touching up my makeup and hair, we felt really tense! Being in such a stressful situation at such a location during peak season made me feel like I had bitten off more than I could chew.

“We were determined to find a spot with lots of cherry blossoms minus the crowds, but it seemed impossible. At one point we didn’t even know we were driving through the famed 40km Cherry Blossom Tunnel and almost shot our portraits next to a tombstone because there weren’t any people nearby. Another time an annoying couple drove by, saw what we were doing and pulled over to take photos of us. They were photobombing us left, right and in our faces!

“To cut the long story short, we were starving and I wanted to give up, but thank God for John who took that extra turn and spotted the park on top of a hill. It was our final try and when we got up there – perfection! After we wrapped and got changed, we laughed and talked over dinner about what had happened and how thankful our hearts were to Jesus for leading us to that secret garden!”
