Now here’s a wedding for these Covid times – one that is outdoors and with facemasks! Turning the pandemic facemask on its head while also paying homage to Wes Anderson’s ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ and ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’, this couple incorporated “foxy” masks into their wedding, to brilliant effect. We love the rustic feel and nature vibes of the venue, not to mention the quirky aesthetics and fun additions in the form of exotic animals that made an appearance during the Night Safari! What a wonderful way to celebrate your wedding with family and friends. Many thanks to Leslie Photography for this beautiful set of photographs.

Paige: “It rained throughout the morning of our solemnisation day, and we were worried that the rain would not relent by the time guests arrived. Thankfully, the rain stopped right after my makeup was done. We had a small bridal photoshoot with our bridal party before the remaining guests arrived, and it was really heart-warming to see our friends happy and excited for us.

“The most memorable moment was when Wilson said his vows during the ceremony. I’d never seen him so anxious and so emotional in all the years that we’ve known each other. His hands were trembling and I was so afraid that he was going to have a panic attack. I kept rubbing his hands to calm him down. Another memorable moment from the night was when our maid of honour and best man gave their speeches during the dinner. We never knew that they could be so sweet, and truly felt their sincere well-wishes for us.

“We chose to decorate the venue in bright, colourful hues to pay tribute to Wes Anderson’s ‘Moonrise Kingdom’. As a way of including our pet corgi Foxy, who could not attend the ceremony, we got paper fox masks for our bridal party and requested brightly coloured attire to match. The fox masks also paid homage to Wes Anderson’s ‘Fantastic Mr Fox’.”

Tips from the bride: “Have a general idea of what your big day should look like and discuss it with your vendors. While I had a clear vision for our solemnisation ceremony, our vendors gave us very good suggestions that enhanced the look and feel of the day. We drew inspiration from online bridal magazines such as ‘Singapore Brides’ and ‘The Wedding Notebook’ as well. I also joined a private Facebook group called ‘Budget Brides (Singapore)’. The ladies in that group are always so supportive and quick to provide advice and assistance.”
