For this fun-loving and practical couple, a bold floral theme ruled their wedding day, as they combined a bright palette of red, orange, pink, mustard yellow and coral. Completing the look were bird motifs on the wedding invitations, vow cards, a DIY red packet box, breakfast cookies, and more! Many thanks to Samuel Goh for these meaningful shots.

“Most of the day flashed by in a blur but at the end of our 19-hour day (I had been awake since 4am, after just two hours of sleep), we just looked at each other in our bliss and agreed the whole thing was more fun than we could have imagined,” the bride recalled.

“What stood out for me were the tears in Marcus’s eyes as I walked down the aisle, his lovely, rhyming vows, and being with our loved ones at the reception. One of our friends told me after the wedding that what seemed to underscore the day was this strong sense of community, and I couldn’t agree more. So much of our big day was the result of the love and sacrifice of our friends and family.”

The couple picked Adam Road Presbyterian as their ceremony venue for practical and meaningful reasons – it was their home church, and available to members for their use. “It isn’t the classic all-white church with beautiful stained-glass windows or a long aisle, so we were stumped as to how we would transform the place,” the bride shared.

Thankfully, there was nothing their group of about 40 friends and family members couldn’t achieve. Giant origami cranes were made, a beautiful floral branch centrepiece was brought in, and their flowers and décor vendor added bold details to complete the look. Collectively, it all made for a bright and very cheerful picture in the end.

Tips from the bride: “From one DIY, a la carte bride to another, do not underestimate the importance of a good schedule, so that everyone knows what they have to do. I suspect we caused our wedding coordinators much grief with our inability to firm up our plans a week prior to the wedding, but they did a great job covering for us anyway. We also forgot to assign enough people to tear down the various props, which meant my newly minted husband had to sweat through it.

“On our wedding day, his groomsmen told him to chill, so don’t forget to do that. In hindsight, I might advise people to get a coordinator for the wedding day to alleviate their friends’ stress! Also, shop around and get a sense of prices and styles that you like. Then pick your favourite and don’t look back.”
