We love how simple, classic and elegant this navy and blush wedding was – nothing over the top, just a sensible colour palette that provided a gorgeous backdrop for a lovely evening of a lifetime. “We always wanted a simple yet rustic outdoor courtyard for our wedding,” said the bride, Lin. “After a long search, we found Rosa Malacca Hotel and thought we’d struck gold!” Many thanks to CJ Photography for these amazing shots!

The venue was cosy with a sense of privacy, and the couple easily embellished it to suit their colour theme of navy blue and blush – with a touch of rose gold. Lin found plenty of inspiration on Pinterest, and personally took on various tasks, from watercolour painting the invitations and writing personalised coasters for their guests, to crafting cuddly wedding bears!

“It was all quite time consuming and tedious, but so worth it,” she said. “Everything was memorable for us on our big day, but what topped it all off was our exchange of vows. We laughed a little and I got teary. It was such a sweet and intimate moment, witnessed by our closest family members and friends. It was perfect.”

Tips from the bride: “If you’re a DIY bride like me, always start early. Research, plan ahead and delegate work to your trusted family and friends. Never leave things to the very last minute – you don’t need panic attacks before your big day.

“Make decisions together with your husband and enjoy the process for it is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It’s your wedding day and your big moment, so manage your expectations and know that it’s okay if things don’t go as well as planned. These are all a part of your sweetest memories, so cherish every single moment of it.

“You really do save thousands from doing your wedding décor DIY. I sourced most of my materials from Taobao and Daiso. It’s actually worth it getting your artsy friend to help you out, plus you get to bond and share these experiences with your bestie(s)!”
