Simple yet elegant and surrounded by nature, this bride and groom tied the knot overlooking a lake at Gita Bayu. While she chose to keep things DIY, she had envisioned a colour scheme made up of varying shades of red, from pink to dark red, from the hanging paper cranes and décor to the bridal bouquet.

We love their ingenious guestbook idea – guests wrote their well wishes on a salvaged piece of wood that was later turned into a coffee table top for the couple. What a wonderful memento of their special day. Many thanks to Dennis Yap Photography* for the sweet set of photos!

Su Lin: “On the day of our wedding, I worried about having it outdoors as the haze had progressively worsened. But as Jason held my hand and I caught my first look at the fully decorated deck where the ceremony was going to be held, my worries went away. I felt so grateful for our friends who had helped turn what I had envisioned into reality, if not better. It really took my breath away. Another memorable moment was when we were taking our first walk down the aisle as husband and wife. Everyone was congratulating and cheering us on; we felt so loved!

“Jason and I both agreed we wanted an outdoor wedding in the midst of lush greenery. I decided on a theme colour that revolved around shades of red. Since we wanted a wedding that was strictly within our budget, I relied heavily on Pinterest for DIY ideas and decoration props. Our friends and family played a huge role, from the collection of glass bottles and the folding of paper cranes to the flower arrangements and even the construction of the wedding arch! The guestbook was a DIY gift that has now been turned into a coffee table, and is sitting in our living room.”

Tips from the bride: “For DIY brides, make sure your props are prepared beforehand and not too close to your wedding date so as to avoid you being stressed out. You’d be surprised by the amount of inspiration you can get from Pinterest, but try not to be overambitious.”
