Somehow, this bride just seems to know where to get her stuff. Their wedding bands were made and bought in Belgium, and she custom made the groomsmen’s attire and printed goods overseas. We are filled with excitement for this romantic affair. The lovely lace and romantic blooms are already enough to put a smile on our faces, never mind the gorgeous venue and stunning photos by Tealily Photography. A dream team that was carefully put together, it just doesn’t get any better than this.
Gordon: “Seeing her in that dress, walking down the aisle, was my favourite moment. The whole day was memorable, from getting ready to go to the church, then to Cockatoo Island for the shoot, the tea ceremony, reception, speeches, and the sparklers at the end. But it was the little moments we were able to steal and get away from everyone that were amazing. To be able to call each other husband and wife for the first time was very special.
Katrina: “Every moment was amazing, but getting married was our favourite moment! We had a lot of overseas guests, and we wanted to show them why we love Sydney as well as the great food and wine that we have, which is why we chose our venue. I love flowers so I wanted it to be very floral and romantic. I chose my florist not only because she is such a beautiful person, but also because she creates such beautiful work. I gave her free reign on the flowers; I told her I wanted to be surprised. And yes, I was very happy.
“The dress all started with my dear friends at Saigon Fabrics in the city. Inside was a treasure trove of all the best fabrics from around the world. Though it was overwhelming, the girls there were able to quickly narrow them down to suit my style and personality. It was such an amazing experience, having all these gorgeous fabrics being draped over you. My dressmaker, Yulia, was also on hand to help with the design. We were able to get all three of my dresses, the bridesmaids’ dresses, the flower girls’ dresses and both my mother and mother in law’s dresses there. Yulia was amazing; she was always calm, and always assured me that it was going to be beautiful. And she was right.
“We loved all the photos from the photobooth. Hung Tran, our cousin, flew in from Belgium to attend our wedding, and also did the photobooth, which blew our minds. We loved the short film the videographer did on the night, and my hair and makeup artist, Ervan, did a beautiful job. The cake was not only beautiful but also very yummy. I could talk about all my vendors for ages. I would recommend them all.
“My sister helped with the favours – we gave each person a box with packets of Chinese tea and jars of Australian honey in them, representing the bitterness and sweetness of marriage.”
Tips from the bride: “Enjoy the whole experience; you will not be engaged for that long. Enjoy the day, and don’t sweat the small stuff. There are hundreds of websites, blogs, Pinterest pages, etc. that you can spend countless hours on, but once we locked in our vendors, most things fell into place organically.”
