Our whole team rejoices whenever a bride gets it right, and Laura is a perfect example – read her tips to find out more. You can tell from the photos too; the couple looks less uptight, there’s a fun atmosphere and even a happier photographer. The Wedding Stylist also created an awesome simple and elegant tablescape for Laura and Rich, beautifully captured through the lens of Bespoke Brides. Truly a dream team, this.

Laura: “We had almost 20 of our closest friends and family come all the way from New Zealand to join us at our reception so it was really special and meaningful to have them there. We created a trivia competition to see which table knew us the best; in the end there was a tie and three of our guests were called up to see who could do the best Gangnam Style – it was hilarious!

“I wanted to create a simple but sophisticated and elegant atmosphere so I based the theme on one of my favourite colour combinations: gold and ivory. This colour theme was supported by my favourite flowers – phalaenopsis orchids and hydrangeas – as well as gold tiffany chairs. A touch of New Zealand was also incorporated with special DIY mini NZ artisan honey pots that were hand-carried all the way from New Zealand.”

Tips from the bride: “Keep reminding yourself of why you are getting married and whom you are marrying because these are the most important facts of all. A wedding is a celebration of the bride and groom coming together as one. It’s not a show to put on for your guests so don’t stress over unnecessary details and worry about whether everything will be perfect. Some things, unfortunately, are out of our control.

“Don’t worry if you don’t have the ‘traditional’ wedding details like even a dance, a cake or a bridal party. The wedding will be more special if you make it your own and make it an extension of your personalities. Remember, your guests are there because they love you both for who you are. So enjoy! Because it will be a day that is literally once in a lifetime!”
